Its weird. I have something in my mouth. It looks like a pimple its very small and painless. Its not a canker sore. i get those all the time its not that. It has also been here for a long time maybe a couple months. at first it was really little then it grew a little bit. Its in the corner of my mouth. Not on my lip. its on the inside to the right corner of my lips towards my bottom lip. Does anyone know what it is? Its been here for a long time and i have no idea what it is! my boyfriend joking around said its an std! i freaked out i was like no way its not. I have been with him for 4 years, hes my first boyfriend and ive only kissed one other guy but it was like 3 and half years ago. so i dont think its that because it just recently showed up. If it is an std then my boyfriend will have alot of explaining to do. lol can someone please help me? |

I would go see a doctor for it. I know this is going to sound super gross, but it could be yeast. I don't want to freak you out though. I have a rash on my lips from an allergic reaction and I thought it could be yeast related. One of the symptoms of yeast in the mouth is white patches on the inside of your cheeks or on your tongue. Yeast can be caused by several things, including medications (especially steriod based inhalers for asthma). Just go get it looked at. Chances are it's nothing but it's good to be sure. Good luck! |

Yeast looks white though - called thrush usually when in the mouth.

I do recommend a visit to an doctor - perhaps a specialist like Ear/Nose/Throat (ENT) to rule out anything serious - like a cancerous growth (sorry, don't want to freak you out but it is possible).

Non urgent referral
Your doctor may still send you to a specialist if you have red or white patches in your mouth that are not painful, swollen or bleeding. There are conditions called erythroplakia and leukoplakia which are not cancerous, but can lead to cancer if they are not treated.
Your GP may also refer you to a specialist if they suspect you have a mouth condition called lichen planus, which causes chronic inflammation of the skin lining your mouth. This is not related to cancer. |

I'm probably wrong if it's not white. I guess I didn't read it clearly... I was thinking pimple and of course whitehead came to mind... my mistake!
There is another possibility that it could be caused by dental work. My fiance had a lingual frenectomy and they gave him the anesthesia shot in his bottom lip. After the shot, a bump formed in that area. He's tried to have it removed but I guess they couldn't get it all out? Anyways, 2 years later it's still there. I'm not sure if it formed right away because he was in pain, he doesn't remember but the oral surgeon confirmed it was a side effect and there's nothing wrong with his lip. |

What a strange question to ask as your very first post at EDS. As an adult you should know to go to a DR as you may have Herpes. The exact same question was asked a few months ago in the EDS Lounge. |
