benefits are of using it. I was wondering around my health shop and saw quite a few brands of SLS free shampoo. Thanks for any input. |

SLS being a detergent agent (correct me if I`m wrong) can irritate your scalp and dry it out, and shampoos containing it are way too harsh.
thus - SLS free shampoos are much more milder and gentler. |

If you color your hair SLS free shampoo's tend be better because (from what I have read) there is less color fading with SLS free.
Some feel SLS is bad for you, but this is a matter of opinion IMO. It does not surprised me that see many in a health store.
I've used some SLS free poo's that I've loved and others I didn't like at all. |

Many people use conditioner-only, to avoid SLS. And MANY conditioners also have SLS, to make them slightly "foamy." |

It's just a really strong detergent. My hair/skin definitely doesn't like sulfates. |

SLS can be an allergen. I try to use SLS free shampoo. |

Actually very few conditioners contain SLS as it is considered a detergent/cleanser and generally not required in a conditioner.
Conditioner only cleansing is discussed on hair forums such Makeupalley. I have not tried it as I usually only wash 2 - 3 times weekly. |

SLS free shampoos take some getting used to because they don't foam up like regular shampoos. I found that I had to use a lot of product just to feel like my hair was getting clean. I'd try an inexpensive one to start out, in case you don't like it. I've used Aubrey Organics shampoo, which was around $8 or $9 for an 11oz. bottle. The one I have is the Rosa Mosqueta Nourishing Shampoo for color treated hair. It uses coconut oil and corn oil based cleansers. I wouldn't get the conditioner though--it cost twice as much as the shampoo, is very thick with a strange consistency, and smells kinda weird.
I must admit that I prefer to wash my hair with conditioner only--gotta love that cheap Suave conditioner! |

can anyone list out SLS free shampoo? I have couple oraganic shampoo but it still contains SLS, I am sort of confused. For awhile, I thought organic means no SLS... probably I was wrong.... |

Not sure if this helps, but I wanted to add:
I have really bad eczema and allergies. I thought that the sulfates were irritating the eczema where my hair touches, so I switched to an all-natural type shampoo.
This ended up making my allergies and eczema really bad b/c a lot of the SFS-free stuff has organic oils, etc. If you have sensitivity to these types of things, you might want to tread lightly.
I'm using baby shampoo right now until I find Sulfate free shampoo that doesn't have a lot of "natual" products. I think I might give the Jonathan line a try.
