Am wanting to purchase a Vitamin C serum, have used diy version, cellularskinrx and Skinceuticals before and did prefer skinceuticals. I have dry/combo skin. Problem is I am in the UK where these products seem to be very very expensive. Ordering from the US/Canada always carries the risk of having to pay hefty customs/tax charges.
Can anyone suggest a more reasonable option? Am looking to buy asap!
Many thanks! |

Thanks for that Londongirl...but why do we have to pay more than double for the same products? Its just not fair! |

retin -a as well i have to ship that over obagi which has become my lifeline for pigmentation i get from the essentialdayspa site i could go on LMAO!
im always a nervous wreck come the time for the post as i DO NOT want to see any letters from royail mail lol

I know exactly how you feel! I've been searching for reasonably priced Vitamin C serums, and the truth is there are NONE in London!!
I guess I will have to order from EDS and take the risk, though I am disappointed as Skinceuticals dont ship outside of US anymore.
Which serum do you think is most similar? Am looking for at least 15%. |

Well not sure about serums, but a really good cream you can get over here is the Environ C Boost cream. Its a clarifying cream that contains a powerful and effective form of vitamin C in a light and non-greasy formula.
Its packaged in a 25ml Aluminium laminated tube that protects the active vitamins from light and air. Shelf life - Twelve (12) months unopened. I do keep my refridgerated but not sure if you need to do that.
You can buy it in the UK from quite a few beauty salons or online at http://www.naturesface.co.uk (which is based in Gloucestershire).
I buy a lot of stuff from the US, because they have such a bigger selection than we do over here, but don't have that much trouble. I think in the past 3 years, I have only ever had one demand from customs saying I needed to pay handling charges etc, but have had plenty of packages come through without them. From memory I think it depends on the amount you spend (its something like anything over £50 gets a fee added and is searched). |

I too buy quite a lot from the states and only had a problem once or twice if I remember, and I am always buying!! Even with the price for shipping it still works out cheaper than buying it in the UK. It makes me mad to see the mark up on some of the prices for skincare, when its almost half the price abroad!!! |

I used to work for a UK company. I am sure you have heard of Elemis and La Therapie. Well the La Therapie Vitamin C is really great! |

Have you tried the DIY recipe thread? There's a Vit C recipe on there.

Ebay is a definate source, but I am a little concerned about ordering Skinceuticals from Ebay, I understand that Skinceuticals have ended their contracts with online retailer so the question is where do the Ebay sellers get thier Skinceuticals products from?
I have tried the DIY recipe before (it wasnt easy finding the right Vit C crystals!), but I never know if its quite the same or as effective as the ones you would buy...I guess I should give that another go.
The La Therapie Vitamin C sounds great, but its 25% strength...I thought the skin could not absorb more than about 20%, is that right? Anyone else used the La Therapie Vitamin C?
SeanySean You're right I need to order more from the States and quit worrying too much about the charges, perhaps I wont be as unlucky as I have been in the past!
The search continues! I really would appreciate any advice about the Skinceuticals/Ebay situation as I really want to order the C+E Ferulic, but am a little hesitant to do so. |

I can only think of Cellex C (?) available easily but it's expensive.
I'd rather order PSF from EDS. I do get stung quite often these days. They are stopping a lot more now. A UPS man was telling me about it the other day.
They seem less likely to stop if the value is less so you need to work that out versus free shipping.
Even if stopped, it still works out a lot better value. |
