I've heard of a pineapple enzym mask before... if I just got crushed pineapple and added it with some granulated sugar as a scrub would there be any benefit?

Pineapple has papain in it. Its an enzyme that disolves dead skin cells. So there is actually no need for scrubing with sugar. Papaya has it in it too.

I've never tried it with pineapple but I've used raw paw paw on my face before - just mush it up and slather it on - leaves my skin feeling nice and soft but it is a bit messy!

I guess pineapples are the same as papayas? They can make your skin smoother?

I think there would be some benefit. There'll be lots of vitamin C too. I'm not sure if it'll be good for sensitive skin though.

Actually when I have a sensitive client I ONLY use enzymes made with papain. Which is papaya and pineapple.

If you want an actual product June Jacobs skin care has a papaya enzyme peel which is amazing.

I've used pineapple on my face with excellent results, and the good news is that it is really economical. The next time you cut up a pineapple, rub the leftover juice onto your clean skin with a cotton wool ball, leave for 5 minutes up to a maximum of 15 minutes, then gently wash it off and apply a moisturiser. This only works with fresh pineapple. The enzyme papain that dissolves dead protein is not present in canned pineapple as heating destroys it.

Thanks for that idea. I eat fresh pineapple every day, well drink it actually in my morning smoothie. So I'm going to give this a try and see how it goes.. and, it will cost me zero dollars! I like that Very Happy

Something similar to do with the long strips of peel of a fresh pineapple is to take those long strips and rub them over your feet and heels(flesh to flesh naturally)and let sit as long as you want. No waste of the pineapple and great to digest the gross dead skin on your feet.

Hmmm, I may try this on my legs too!

Glad to discover this thread. I love pineapples and papayas. I'll be smearing the juice all over my face now. Smile
