Thought I'd pass this along. It was reviewed and got a ten out of ten in the local paper, so I started investigating. The Arbutus Laser Centre in Vancouver, which is operated by physicians and surgeons, not estheticians, sells this product and it is only available, as far as I know, through physicians offices (dermatologists, plastic surgeons, laser specialists).
The pricing isn't bad, actually, for a product line that is sold and recommended by doctors, so I'm trying it out.
Here's the web site:

Alyria products incorporate the best ingredients and technologies that the world has to offer with our patented delivery systems, to create formulations that enhance the beauty of your skin. Doctor-tested and recommended, Alyria’s advanced skincare products improve skin tone and texture, and noticeably reduce fine lines and wrinkles. You will notice the results. |
I bought "Intense Wrinkle Correction" and the "Anti-dark circle night serum."
Will keep you posted on the results.
P.S. I've been using copper peptides for the last two months and haven't noticed any significant change to warrant buying more so thought I'd try this after reading about it. (Am still using Janson-Beckett - it's a good line, but Alyria has more credibility with me because it's being endorsed and used by many skin specialists.)

Re the Sunscreen: The Alyria line requires using a good sunblock every day, rain or shine, and the Laser Centre sells one of the best on the market. The product is ANTHELIOS S by La Roche-Posay. It blocks both UVA and UVB rays. The UVA rays are the most damaging and dangerous to our skin. Here's some info on it.

http://www.laroche-posay.com/ (a little slow to load)
From what I understand this is the only sunscreen of its kind available that truly blocks UVA. I might be wrong, but it's what I read in W magazine. |

Actually, most of the run of the mill drugstore brands in europe, la roche posay being one of them (avene, galenic, vichy, bioderma, etc) are excellent at providing uva protection--they all contain ingredients not yet approved by the fda. mexoryl is supposed to be a good one, though!
but thanks for the info an alyria, i'll check it out!

lesleyjane - how are you liking the Alyria (intense wrinkle product) so far? |

I'm liking it ok but it's too early to report on results (for wrinkles and dark under eye circles) just yet. The face cream reminds me of Retin-A in its texture and effect. It is a little on the drying side. This is ok because I have to layer it with sunscreen anyway and the sunscreen is pretty moisturizing. One bonus is I had a couple of zits on my chin and the face cream just obliterated them. They were gone the next day.
I like the eye ampoules a lot; the cream has a velvety texture. It's very easy to apply and feels silky and lovely. This particular eye cream is designed to get rid of dark under eye circles and it's still early days yet. I need to give this a few weeks. |

Hi folks, thanks for your patience.
Ok, here are the results so far after two months of use.
The "anti-dark circle night serum" for under the eyes has improved the texture and strength of my under eye skin considerably. Older women will know what I mean when I say the skin can be "crepey" under the eye. This was true for me before I used the serum and I no longer have that crepey look or feel. The serum has somewhat lessened the purple but I still have darkness under my eyes. It could be that the serum requires more time. (It might help to use their day serum too...but I thought I'd start with one product first).
I like the serum very much, particularly because each night's dose is contained in an easy to open ampoule. The ampoules protect the serum so there's no spoilage. The serum is lovely to put on...it's smooth and glides on.
The "intense wrinkle correction" cream is good, but I'm not sure it's better than other creams I have used. For example, the alpha derma cream by Janson-Beckett. I must add that I am supplementing this cream with Rosehip Oil, which is reputed to be very good for the skin and ever since I started using it I've noticed big improvements. So I'm not sure how much of the improvement is due to the Alyria and how much is due to the Rosehip oil.
Here is a link explaining Rosehip oil

Here's the Rosehip Oil I bought

(a little goes a long way. I use one to two drops in the morning and again at night) |

Thanks lesleyjane. I am mainly interested in the intense wrinkle reduction. So with the intense wrinkle correction (and your rosehip oil), have you noticed a reduction in the depth and/or amount of wrinkles after 2 months, and if so by how much would you say? Thanks again for updating! |

lesleyjane, thanks for your review.
I have a not-so-related question: since you mentioned "Arbutus Laser Centre" in your original posting, if you don't mind would you share some feedback on the quality of services they provided. I am interested in IPL, and laser hair removal treatments and looking for an reputable place. Thank you in advance. |

I cannot comment on the Laser Centre's laser services as I've never used them. The reason I went there was to buy the products mentioned in this thread, not to undergo laser treatments. I do believe they have been in business a very long time. Maybe you can google search to see if there are comment threads elsewhere about them. |

First, I have noticed an overall improvement in my skin. It's tighter, smoother, rosier, has better tone, etc. My crow's feet have diminished quite a bit, but this may in part be due to the eye serum which I distribute to the corners of my eyes.
The smile lines (from the outer nostrils to below the lips) seem to be less deep as well.
I can't quantify the change, just give you my overall impression. (I get good feedback from people who say my skin looks great.)
I've always had pretty good skin to begin with and have been using anti-aging products for awhile so the change for me hasn't been dramatic.
Creams can only do so much but this one seems to be a good one and you only need a tiny amount. The cream also has a pump, which is a bonus. It means the cream is protected from contact with your fingers.
I should also add that good skin, in my experience, depends on a healthy diet and lifestyle. Including fresh fruits (especially berries) and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and fish oils will go a long way to beautifying skin. (Also, eliminating one's exposure to cigarette smoke and other pollutants, and getting plenty of exercise helps!) |

Thanks Rileygirl! A bit pricey than I like. But I am impressed by the fact it is only distributed through doctor's office, give this line some extra creditbility? |

Regarding prices, my total bill for both products including 14% tax, came to $178.00 CAD. I remember one of the products being more expensive than the other but I can't remember which one. |

Yesterday I went to the Arbutus Laser Centre to get more Alyria. I bought the Anti-Dark Circle Night Serum and Revitalizing Eye Serum (http://alyria-med.com/page.asp?intNodeID=13711) as these two compliment each other.
The bill came to $116.00 including the tax.
According to the Laser Centre, results are noticeable after the first 6 weeks and really noticeable after six months.
As mentioned I have noticed results and yesterday when I was out shopping, whenever I happened to look in mirrors I was surprised by how good I looked. Much fresher than usual. The bags are definitely receding. It will be interesting to see as time progresses.
I picked up some brochures on their laser treatments. I'm considering one for broken capillaries on my upper chest (from sunbathing).
This is their web site. http://www.arbutuslaser.com/index.shtml |

Progress update: As mentioned, I've been using the Alyria Intense Wrinkle Correction, the "Anti-dark circle night serum, and Revitalizing Eye Serum. I'm approaching the four month mark and am AMAZED at the difference in my skin. (The company says it can take up to 6 months to see incredible change, and I can only hope the next two months take another ten years off my face!)
I am totally 100% sold on these products. My skin has never looked better: smoother, softer, firmer, younger. My crows feet are diminished to the point of near-invisibility on one side and are barely noticeable on the other. (On one side the crows feet are deeper and I expect these need a little more time.) My under eye circles are fading - in fact, the line of the circle is not there anymore. I still have some purple but it's a lot less! The skin under my eyes isn't creased, crepey or saggy but firm and supple. When I touch my under eye skin it feels like different skin. My smile lines are fading and even my jaw line is much firmer. I was beginning to develop those little pouches (the beginning of jowls-ugh) and these are smoother.
My overall skin is softer, smoother, and the capillaries are barely noticeable. I used to have an inflamed look to my cheeks, but now they just look rosy. I also used to occasionally have some dry patches on either side of my nose and these are gone completely.
While other people are noticing a change, what's important is that I can really see a difference. The other day I was out somewhere - note: I'd barely slept the night before - and happened to catch my reflection in a mirror under florescent light, the harshest, most punishing light there is for a middle-aged woman who hasn't gotten enough sleep. Usually in these circumstances I grimace at the sight of myself but that day it was as if I was looking at someone else. I seemed to looked ten years younger. I looked fresh and vivid. I literally did a double take.
The other amazing part to this is that in the last few weeks my diet's gone to hell - I'm over-indulging in junk food and this usually has a significant impact on my face. And yet with the Alyria there's been no impact at all. The condition of my skin just keeps improving. I get NO breakouts, I never look tired, I never get a rash, rough spots, oily patches or dry patches.
I should add that I continue to use the rosehip oil (see earlier posts in this thread) and I have no way of knowing how much of the change may be attributable to the oil; that said, the products seem to compliment each other, and I never use the oil on my eye area, just the Alyria so I know it's not the oil that's working on that area. I will keep using the rosehip oil because from what I've read it's very nourishing and healing.
I will post again in another month, and may put some photos up.
P.S. Edited to add, that I'm barely wearing makeup anymore. I feel comfortable enough in my raw skin to go out without make up on a lot of the time. Sometimes I'll put a little lipstick on and nothing else. This is a big first to me because I used to not even go the grocery store late at night without makeup on. |

Thanks for the update, lesleyjane. Could you please post your am and pm regimen on what you are using and in what order? I just plunked down quite a bit on all jan marini products, and I will give that 4 months to judge, but if that does not work for me, I want to get this line that you are using. Your results sound fantastic. Anyway, appreciate your routine when you have time! |

The routine is simple.
Morning: On freshly washed and dried skin, apply one pump of the Alyria Intense Wrinkle Correction over the face and throat (avoiding the eye area). Note: Because I also use Rosehip oil, I apply two drops of the oil first and let it soak in (see earlier post for my link to that product). After about five minutes, I apply the wrinkle correction cream.
Apply one pump of the Revitalizing Eye Serum under and at the sides of the eyes (where crows feet form). Do not apply on your eye lids. You can dab a little just below your eye brows if you like, but do not put cream (or any products on your eye lids.) Apply by gently dabbing the cream with your fingertips.
Evening: is pretty much the same as the morning routine except for the eye area. You apply the "Anti-dark circle night serum" and let this soak in for five or ten minutes. Over top of that you apply the Revitalizing Eye Serum.
For the rest of the face, it's the same as the morning routine.
The anti-dark circle serum comes in little gold ampoules that are very easy to open. You just twist to open and squeeze the contents on to a finger tip. Rub the solution between two finger tips and you'll have enough on each finger tip for each eye. Each jar holds 60 ampoules, so the product lasts approx. two months.
And that's it! Instructions come with the products so if you buy them you'll receive the information.
Note: I started using the wrinkle correction cream on June 20th and it's September 15, so I'm almost at the four month mark and have yet to run out, so it's a good deal so far. (I believe it's supposed to last 6 months, but will keep you posted).
One more thing. These products are protected from contact exposure to the air or contact with your skin until you use them. You're not sticking your finger into a jar of cream or anything like that. It's all by pump or ampoule. |
