Does anyone know what the w/w stands for when it says 18%zinc w/w.? 18% is very high for a zinc oxide sunscreen but i tried it on my hand and it felt quite nice.
I was interested in the baby one as ive heard her others are too thick and heavy

I've no idea what the w/w means but you could go to the web pagewww.invisiblezinc.com and email them. Dr. LeWinn's Moisturising Sun Defence actually has a higher zinc oxide content, 19.0% w/w. I notice that the other ingredients listed on that product also have w/w after the percentage - must be something related to chemistry.
The Megan Gale sunscreens that are currently available are not as thick as the original formular that they came out with and they are much easier to apply. So I don't think its really necessary to opt for the junior version. I have been using the Megan Gale Tinted Daywear for a while now - I like it because of its bronze colour, although it may be too dark for some but its great it you don't want to wear makeup. |

Here is a good defintion for w/w
an abbreviation for "by weight," used in chemistry and pharmacology to describe the concentration of a substance in a mixture or solution. Properly speaking, 2% w/w means that the mass of the substance is 2% of the total mass of the solution or mixture. The metric symbol g/g has the same meaning as w/w.

I'm kinda interested in the sunscreens by Megan Gale, but I can't find that much information on it! I do know that nano particles of zinc oxide (smaller and micronized zinc oxide) are used.
Does anyone have ingredients lists for the products? I can't find ingredients anywhere.
I'm in the US, are there any US distributers of Megan Gale sunscreen? I've seen some news reports of a US launch in 2008, does anyone have any info on that? |

Ok with some more googling I already answered one of my questions:
It will be called Invisible Zinc, will be launched in May on US home shopping channel QVC.
I'm still really curious about ingredients! |

I have been using the tinted Invisible Zinc for a while now. I have combination olive skin and I have a problem finding a good sunscreen that doesn't make me look and feel like an oil slick or have a white cast. Although I find the zinc a little thick and heavy on my face I haven't found anything better (admittedly I haven't tried a lot) .
On the back of the tube it states Active Ingredient: zinc oxide 18% w/w
Preservative: phenoxyethanol, caprlyl glycol.
I no longer have the box so can't provide any more details. |

Invisible Zinc is actually the term used for zinc that is invisible when applied to the skin as opposed to normal zinc creams which can be white or coloured and are applied as a skin covering to stop sunburn. It was formulated by an Australian company:

Cool! But you said that it doesn't make you look like an oil slick, but then you say that it thick and heavy on your skin. So then, is it like a medium weight moisturizer?

Thanks! I've looked through the website, and although I see some descriptions of products, I can't find any ingredients lists...
Do you use it? How do you like it?

It seems they only publish their active ingredients. That's not enough for me... 
I'm too much of a skin care control freak now not to want to know every little thing that goes into something I put on my face, lol.

18% w/w, means that is 18g or Zinc Oxide in 100g of final product.
It is very normal for pure Physical Sun Screens have a higt percentage of either zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. |

I'm not a huge fan of either the invisible zinc or the Tinted Daywear. It is very thick and I also found that with the Tinted Daywear, the tint would go streaky after awhile.
I'm now using Sofina Nuance UV and NCN Mineral Sheer Tint SPF20. Maybe the ingredients in the Sofina Nuance won't suit you - but I find it an exceptional product and haven't had any problems with it. |

Thanks for sharing. I can't get excited about this product because of both the mixed reviews it gets and also the lact of ingredients listings.

| Nimue, I have never used the product so can't comment on the various textures. However, most products these days which say they have zinc would probably be using invisible zinc. The question is specifically what is in the Megan Gale brand and I don't know but if I remember, I will have a look at the packaging as it is stocked locally. |

Just wondering if anybody had any updates on the US release of this? I'm interested in trying it, but not with international shipping.  I know from the website that it's supposed to launch this year, though I haven't seen it on QVC yet... My google searches didn't turn anything up, but I just thought I'd ask. Thanks. |
