Hi Londongirl; It's kind of hard to make out much because the picture isn't showing the surrounding area for comparison.
If all that shine isn't just from the camera flash, it looks to me that you have thinned your skin to the point where the blood vessels are now showing.. Your signature indicates that you may be overdoing the exfoliation..
I'm wondering if you might benefit from backing off everything listed in your signature, and try something that will just 'nourish' your skin instead for the time being.. EX: An anti-oxidant cream, which includes ingredients to repair from the inside out.. (If you PM me, I'd be happy to make suggestions, or even make you something and send it to you.) (I make this offer at my own expense, including postage. I have nothing to sell, and only make the offer to help a fellow member!!!!)
The other thing that I would suggest is treating the area with an amber only LED. Considering your age, and the hyper-pigmentation issue, it might be just the thing for you, since collagen building isn't an issue right now. The only consideration here, would be the darker your skin is, the less the light would be able to penetrate. Contact 'Rita' at the following link, and I'm sure she will let you know whether or not it will work for you. (You can also get a gently used light with a very deep discount if it's a go!)

I would also tell you that if you go the LED route, you must have patience. It's no quick fix, but long term dedication should certainly give you wonderful results.
Good Luck! |

i dont know why it looks like that but beleive there is no blood vessels showing my pixels on my camera isnt the best i guess
i use 1% retin a obagi serum and a glycolic peel evey 3 weeks on that area
i dont have $895.00 to spend on something that might work i need to be sure enough that it will work on black skin
i am in the uk and unfortunetly there aren't Dr's here that i have found that use laser for black skin i have seen quite a few in the states

I know $895. is a lot. That's why I suggested you contact Rita to see if it's right for you. If it is, you can purchase a gently used device for about $495.
Is there anyway you can take a picture that would show more area. It's really hard to see exactly what you mean. It actually looks like part of a breast to me, and I'm pretty sure it's probably not... ... right?.. |

try using kojic acid/ papaya soap. that has helped with light pink pigmentation marks.
also taking l-glutathione has been said to help. mostly every skin lightening product contains vitamin c in it. keep that in mind when picking the right product for you.
to increase the effects of these products, use a derma roller and/or baby quasar light when using your products. |

I'm having trouble figuring out which body part you're displaying. I don't mean to get too personal, but do you have an inverted nipple? If so, it appears that the darkened area is just below it (kind of a vertical rectangular area, right?) Maybe there is just more blood pooling to that area, just under the skin. Have you consulted a general physician or a dermatologist?

Hi londongirl. I'm in the UK too and so I know how hard it can be to get your GP to refer you to a dermatologist - and even then, there's no guarantee you'll get the sort of help that our US friends are offered. Of course you have the option to seek out a private specialist but it is as you know a very expensive option. Still, if I were you, I would try to get a referral from my GP to see a dermatologist.
In the meantime, I think you've gotten some good advice here. Kassy_A suggested that you might be overdoing the exfoliation and from your pics I agree with her. And DStats19 suggestion for the kojic acid/papaya soap is a good one too as it would help with the pigmentation whilst also nourishing the area. I've used these products for melasma on my face and they were way gentler than tri-luma or retin-a (which can be quite brutal and drying).
Good luck to you (and if you do get referred to a Derm through your GP, just be as pushy and insistent as you can manage - that seems the best way to get the desired treatment on the NHs these days). |

i have tried kojic acid is did nothing for me hydro is the ONLY thing that got me some sort of result it was my LAST option
no i dont have a inverted nipple the picture of pigmentation is below my belly button that is what you are looking at
i went and saw a gp and they didnt think it was life ''threatening'' or causing me any harm so they didnt see the point in referring me (sigh) private is soooo expensive just to book i have to pay £150!!! (sigh) |

Hi londongirl. I see now that it's your belly button, thanks for clarifying. The pigmentation is in such a peculiar pattern and location. Could you be having an allergic reaction to the zipper in your jeans? Have you tried cortisone cream?

I really think you need to seek more medical advice. I can't believe your GP wouldn't refer you to a derm - what, do you have to be dying to get in to see one - that's BS. I don't know what the situation is in England, but in Australia most Skin/Spa Clinics have a qualified skin doctor that you can see without a referral. Would that be an option for you? Other than that, I don't know what to suggest because without really knowing what you're dealing with, you might do more harm than good. If it is a TCA burn - you could try some emu oil. Emu oil is highly recommended for burns - and that certainly won't do you any harm. Good luck with it. |

the burn happened last year summer so it has healed its not recent it has just really hyperpigmented my skin
it was ALOT darker than that as well when it forst happened litterally a black stripe going down me
Its so weird as my skin on my face is very good i prided myself in it and now i have to deal with this!!
I will go back to the GP and see if i can try again with them if not
im sticking with getting a getting a compounding chemist to mix me up something and get the GP to sign the prescription or whatever as they wont refer me to a Derm |

Use the Dermaroller. If you look on the thread in the DIY skincare tools section you'll see that pigmentation is something that is well handled.
I also tried Kojic cid without much success. The Dermaroller helps your othe active penetrate more and seems to restructure your skin so dark spots disappear. I saw real results after several weeks. Many others on the thread have seen similar results.
Good luck. |

I can not see the picture. I am just wondering if the hyperpigment looks like mole or some black spot. I have so many on my face, which drives me crazy. I tried a lot of whitening products but got nothing. I really want to get help in this post. Thank you. |
