I have got the impression that you are supposed to use a regular Retin-A/tretinoin-product in conjunction with the Obagi products, but I might be wrong.

Yes, what is the difference if any? If Obagi offers it, it should be able to be used with their other products.

I am just using the regular Tretinoin 0.025%.

I would really like to know between the regular and the Obagi Tretinoin difference, if there's any. And also with the huge price difference.

I am pretty sure there is no difference at all. Tretinoin is the drug name and Retin-A is a brand name.
My dh is a pharmacist and I can ask him tonight.

As far as price difference....I guess it depends on where you get it? If you can find a generic Tretinoin it will probably be a little less expensive?

I am using Generic brand Tretinoin 0.025%. But it is less effective than what I expected...I think I need to bump up to 0.05%. But I am not sure, what difference between them. ....maybe brand name???? hmm

I agree with dcanup, no difference in regular tretinoin/Retin A or the Obagi. Just a difference in price probably!

I know what you mean....I have always been a brand-name kind of girl!
However, my husband swears that generics are just as good? He thinks the only difference is price.
I will tell you this.....I started out with .025% and did bump up to .050% after a few weeks because my skin was tolerating the .025%.
It could be that you might need to just bump up the percentage?

dcanup, I just wonder do we have to keep bump it up the gram from 0.025g to 0.05 and then 0.1g if the skin is tolerating. Is it OK keep bumping up? I don't want my skin get addicted to the tretinoin..

If you are getting results from the lower % tretinoin/RA, then you do not have to bump up to a higher percent. HTH! Very Happy

hey everyone, i've also been wondering if there is a difference between obagi tretinoin and regular tretinoin.
my obagi tretinoin had finished so i went back to my aesthitician and this time she gave me a prescription to get the tretinoin at the pharmacy.
i was wondering if there was any difference between the two. the ingredients are the same though.
does anyone know if there is a difference between the two? or are they the same?

dm26, I bought my Tretinoin cream thru web sitewww.alldaychemist.com/. It didn't require prescription. It is really cheap but it takes really really long time to get the product. And shipping charge is really high. Brand one is usually from a big pharma company like medication.

Manufacturers of generic Retin-A are not allowed to use Retin-A as the name of their creams. The generic creams are called A-Ret, Retino-A etc.
