I am a blonde who hates peachfuzz on her upper lip. I've been waxing for about six years, and it seems that I have to do-so every other week (at home). The hair is only noticeable to myself, but I'm one of those women whom runs her fingers over her `stache every day, wanting a perfectly smooth upper lip.
I am sick of waxing! Kindly note: I use hard wax, as I've experienced one too many "owies" using soft wax/prewaxed strips. It's always lovely to rip a layer of skin off one's upper lip! Not really.
Furthermore, at I approach my mid-30's, I've noticed that I'm now getting a few coarse, darker hairs on my upper lip. They reoccur in the same few places, on the left side of my upper lip. I pull them out with tweezers as soon as I feel any hint of their return. (hormones! I hate `em!)
Most of my peachfuzz is blonde, but some of it looks dirty-blonde (to me). Yuck! I am now considering getting laser hair removal treatments along my upper lip.
Has anyone else had their upper lip zapped? Just wondering how much $$ and time was invested? Any of you have those coarse hairs I've mentioned? If so: did they get zapped into oblivion too? |

I tried several laser hair removal treatments in this area and it didn't get rid of any of the ones I consider "dark". It especially won't get rid of any blonde hair. I'm now thinking about professional electrolysis although I've yet to find one close to me. Anyways, I recommend that you not waste your time or money trying laser hair removal there. Unless it's as course as say underarm or lower leg hair, it just won't do any good. I'm still waiting for the day they come out with a laser hair removal that actually works for blonde hair. |

I agree you would wasting your money. Laser does not work for light colored hair
I have peachfuzz too but I just ignore it. I know I'm the only one who see's it. I have plenty of other things to fuss with. |

I too have lots of blond hair. I think about the home electrolysis but I'd be doing it everyday for 10 years! I guess the sooner I get started, the sooner it'll be over. I also don't know what I'd say to my kids when they see me with a needle jammed in my face. |

I've been doing laser hair removal and does seem to work. (but it's not as miraculous as the advertisements say, and requires many more sessions) Keep in mind that I have dark hair and pale skin, so I'm a very good candidate for it. I've been doing legs, underarms, and upper lip. The hair on my legs is now mostly gone. It worked better on the lower legs, I think because the hair is thicker on the lower legs. I see some difference with the upper lip, and practically no difference with the under arms. I think it's harder to get rid of the under arm hair because it's so hormonal.
One thing to keep in mind though is when you do laser hair removal you're only allowed to shave those areas. You can't pluck, wax, or use any other type of hair depilatory or anything like that. You can only shave, but that's not a problem for me. |

What Nimue says is my experience, too. Laser treatment is most successful on thick, coarse and dark hair. The thinner, blonder hair seemed to be immune to the treatments.
Another thing to bear in mind is that frequent waxing over many years will cause bending of the hair roots. It takes more laser or electrolysis treatments to permanently remove these hairs than hairs that have only been shaved or never removed at all. |
