Hello all,
I wanted to start a a topic on Oxygen facials as I see that the other oxygen posts are about Oxygen creams and serums.
I am talking about the oxygen machines that are used in salons. I've seen the results on others and they have been REALLY good. (Mainly friends)
The facials themselves are expensive and I wondered if there were machines (home machines) that were not prohibitive.
Thanks for any info you can share. |

Oh I thought you were talking about the thread in the Lounge about sniffing oxygen thru a nasal cannula..
What good would it do your skin to wave oxygen over it? Skin doesn't have the ability to breathe in oxygen, like your lungs. Yeah it would probably make you feel better for a minute or 2 and make you want to leave a big tip...and maybe the humidity would help your skin for a bit.....
Am I missing something here? Sorry for being so dumb, if so... |

I think that the benefit from oxgen facials is temporary- the skin temporarily swells up and looks great. It may still be worth it for a special occasion, but I don't think this is soemthing that actually does anything. |

HI
I Have had a few oxygen facials after micro-dermbrason and it definitely helped infuse the products into my skin. My skin looked very hydrated and fresh that day and the next. So i feel it does work but I'm too sure about long term results.

Here is what The Derm Blog has to say about oxygen facials in a post dated 17th of June 2008.
Quote:
Your skin needs a certain amount of oxygen to remain healthy. Having lots more oxygen than what is needed does not make your skin younger or healthier...
Your skin is not designed to take oxygen in from the outside (unless you're a frog). It is somewhat analogous to getting into a bath tub to soak when you are very thirsty. When you get out of the tub, you will be wet and still very thirsty. It simply doesn't work...
The second way that oxygen is touted to make your skin look younger, is through facial products. Products that claim to deliver oxygen to your skin have never been shown in studies to increase O2 levels. Oxygen is a gas. There is no way to put that into a cream, keep it there, then have it released when it hits your skin. It would be like opening a soda can - as soon as it was opened, all the oxygen would fizz out.

I have tried Oxygen facial for about 10 times. It gave me an instant fresh feeling but did not last. |

i dont think oxygen facials with machines do much for the skin either. I think that Karin Herzog treatments done at home really do oxygenate as they are proven and patented. |

Karin Herzog products are very nice - they are a good part of a total comprehensive program. After using many lines this is my staple and I love the facials I give myself with the Oxygen and Essential Masque.... |
