As titled. It seems that most chemicals in the sunscreen are bad. So I was wondering, would they be excreted from the body somehow or just accumulated in our bodies? For example, if I use a ss that contains Octinoxate say for just a wk, would it be excreted from the body later?  |

| From my reading, most sunscreens don't get absorbed much into the body. The one that has most evidence for being absorbed is oxybenzone (benzophenone). It does get passed out in the urine. In fact, that is how they tested for evidence that it was getting into the body in one of the studies. Although it does get excreted, I still would avoid this ingredient because you don't know how much of it accumulates in the body versus the amount that is absorbed. And oxybenzone can have some hormone-disrupting effects. The evidence for significant absorption of the other sunscreen ingredients is not so strong. I think octinoxate and octycrylene may also be absorbed to some extent but not as much as oxybenzone. I read about this in wikipedia.org. Unfortunately so many US sunscreens contain oxybenzone, including the popular brands like Neutrogena, Banana Boat, Coppertone, etc. |

Thanks m1rox for replying! So I guess using a ss with Octinoxate on a daily basis is not really a good idea. But just say like in the summer might be ok? As it does excrete from the body?......hhm...  |
