Has anyone tried a baking soda scrub for your face, I took a tablespoon of baking soda and combined it with my facial cleanser (kinerase)
and my face feels wonderful...I have tried the aspirin mask which i really like..but the baking soda I love....has anyone ever tried it or heard of using it.

I tried it a while back - didn't have any problems with it. Haven't been using it lately though because I use a microfiber cloth instead. If you Google "Baking Soda Facial Scrub" heaps of info will come up. Here's one:

I started using baking soda mixed cleanser as a scrub a while ago (more then 5 yrs). I think a table spoon is a lot though. I use much less, just a little sprinkle is usually good for me. I don't use manual scrubs often any more but this is what I use when I do.

People have mixed feelings about this, some feel its too harsh but I like it and it does not irritate my skin.

Here's a thread stating you should absolutley NOT use baking soda on your face due to it's high alkalinity

To strip all of the product buildup in your hair:

If you do NOT have coloured hair... try making a paste of baking soda and water. Then massage it into your scalp and leave it for a few minutes...
You'll notice that your head smells like perm solution (at least that's what it smells like to me... add a bit of shampoo, lather and rinse.
Your hair will be super soft and all of the gunk that you didn't realize was there will be gone! Smile

Warning!!! This will strip the colour out of your hair if it has been recently dyed!

I don't think that would be ok, unless you don't like the color you got.

hhhhmmmm, if it's strong enough to strip the color right out of your hair, I'm wondering if it's really something I want to put on my hair.....or my face for that matter. Maybe I'll stay away from it.

Will it strip black hair dye? I've been dying my hair black for the past year and would like to get rid of it now.
This is something I should try but would like to remain with hair on my head.

I don't recommend using baking soda anywhere on your bady- on face, on hair, etc. I think your best bet is to get a product that's specifically for stripping color. I don't know what but I'm sure it exists. Good luck!

I've heard that baking soda is not supposed to be used on face because it irritates your skin.

The only place I've used baking soda on my body is to brush my teeth a few times; it tastes awful! I much prefer Gly-Oxide, which I believe Carekate told us about. It's awesome. My teeth are a couple of shades whiter.

The reason why baking soda is NOT such a good idea for facial skin is that it throws the PH balance completely out of whack. It's very alkaline and takes a long time for the skin barrier to return to a normal PH after using baking soda. When I first joined EDS, I had also heard about using Milk of Magnesia as a mattifier but quit using it for the same reason.

I'm convinced that a lot of products I used to use probably contributed to more skin problems because they either made my skin too acidic or too alkaline and too much time was spent just returning to normal.

No baking soda on delicate facial skin! OK on teeth, however but not sure I'd wanna use it on my hair either....

Wow who would use baking soda on their face??? That would hurt!! I find it abrasive when I use it to whiten my teeth...
