Just wondering if anyone else in the Vancouver area is a proud owner of a doxie! Due to a recent split my little guy has no one else to play with and we'd like to find him a a play date companion! |

I had a piebald one last year and I gave it away after I was sooo tired of her peeing every time someone paid attention to her. I don't know what her problem was, she was both cowardly and aggresive at times. |

I'm not in the Vancouver area but I like doxies! What about going to a local park or off-leash dog park and seeing if your baby could find some suitable friends there?
Bugaboo, Doxies are kinda known for being stubborn and they do need training and consistent guidelines. If they come with some behavioral problems, those can be diagnosed and worked with.
My friend has a one-year old mini doxy who STILL pees in the house instead of outside but as my friend is recovering from chemo, she just doesn't have the time or energy to do the work that will curb/change that behavior. It started because she wasn't able to concistsently take the dog out several times a day and night as a puppy to do the right kind of house training in the first place.
If you've ever watched "It's Me or The Dog" on cable, starring dog trainer Victoria Stillwell, you'll see that things like peeing with excitement, being aggressive, fearful, destructive etc., all have their reasons and origins and can be corrected. It takes time and discipline and a lot of work, but after that the dog's a lot happier——and of course so are the owners. |
