I recently received my Finacea from an Australian pharmacy but have not used it yet. The Finacea is Azelaic acid 15% and benzoic acid 1%. My question is, what is the difference between benzoic acid and benzyl peroxide?
Also, the big thing is, I have heard that you are not to use benzyl peroxide with other vitamin a products, like retinols and retin-a, because they cancel each other out. Does this go for benzoic acid as well?
My moisturizer and one of the serums I use contains retinol, not real high concentrations of it but its there. I don't want to be using the retinol products with the Finacea if they are going to counteract.
Thanks if anyone can help and sorry if this is the wrong forum for this post. |

benzoic acid is just a preservative, it is found in many products (including packaged foods)... As far as I know, it has no bearing in skincare/acne beside preserving the product. Benzoyl peroxide is an anti-bacterial. |
