Yes you read the title correctly!

I was at a department store a few months ago and the SA at the Napolean counter flagged me down and asked me to sample a few of the products. I was there to buy clarins instant smooth perfecting touch primer, but since the clarins SA was busy the Napoleon SA came to me and told me that the autopilot primer by Napoleon is way better for oily skin anyways I headed her way.

Well first I checked out the primer- i ended up buying it (review to follow later).

Then she tried to make me buy the oil blotting papers. I told here that I already use clean and clear papers and I like them, and that I didn't want to spend more money (I bought an eyeshadow from there as well).

Well then she said ok, well here take a couple and try them out. But if you don't want to buy these- this is what I do...
She bought the origianl oil blotting papers from Napoleon and they come in a cute case. But then when they were finished she said that she used paper Toilet Seat Covers and they work the same- she just cut them up to size and they fit nicely in the napolean case.

Well I have now tried the toilet seat covers (clean ones that just come out of the box) and they work fine! I wouldn't say they are superb, but if your in a pinch and need to blot your face and don't have any blotting papers- go to the bathroom and use a toilet seat cover!

Some woman who wrote a book on celebrity style secrets was on the Tyra show and she said SJP uses toilet seat covers too.

I remember before the Clean & Clear ones, I used the tissue kind from The Body Shop and they'd always leave powder on your face.

Thanks for the recs, but I just went & spent a whole heap on the Chanel blotting papers, only because I really liked the cute packaging & the little Chanel logos on each of the blotting papers Embarassed ...such a waste of money. Rolling Eyes

I get huge packs of oil blotting sheets from the Japanese dollar store. I usually need a couple for my whole face but with Clean and Clear I only need one per use. C&C still works out to be more expensive though.I can't live without oil blotters...powdering my face with more powder seems so icky.

Before I left my old job at a homeware store, I took tons of their tissue wrapping paper - works just as well as the $5 Body shop crap I kept buying... I couldn't imagine paying anymore than $2 for a thousand sheet of blotting paper, I can't imagine using stuff like Chanel blotting paper which costs $25 for 100 sheets!

I must say, Paul & Joe make the most gorgeous blotting papers and little storage tins for them.. It's almost worth shelling out the money for the case and using plain old tissue paper / toilet seat covers as refils.
