Well, I have been a busy-bee with my posts this week. OK, I am slow I know, but I am just clueing into Vit. C.
I often wonder why we don't all have beautiful wrinkle-less skin already between our microdermabrasions, peels, vit. C serums, and Argireline products. But we don't so either we can never be satisfied or half-way there or nothing is really working...
But I digress...
So, I have been thinking of getting into the Vit. C movement.. and was wondering what it is going to do for my skin and just how much the ladies (and men) here love these products.
My neck and eyes could do with a little help. My face is lineless but indeed it could be starting to loose some of its firmness.
I am 38, have very fair skin (aside from my permanently pink nose the sun damage is not showing much yet), it is fairly hardy, although extremely sensitive to weather changes and aspirin masks (don't even ask )
I don't use any serums on my face at the moment, but am coming very close to getting some alphaderm. I use Decleor and Epiderm products and also Eve Lom.
There is a lot written about Vit. C on the boards, but I got lost looking for exactly what I want to know.
Looking forward to hearing about the benefits and recommendations. |

Vit C is an anti oxidant and is suppose to stimulate collagen production - which is needed for firm skin.
For me (still using Vit C after one and half years), it helps to improve the skin tone, and it definitely brightens and clarifies my skin. As for wrinkles or sags, it helped but I do not think that it is THE thing that made the difference.
I gather that you are still relatively young and starting on Vit C is a good way to keep the wrinkles at bay.

I think it is also supposed to help stop smoke and pollution etc penetrating the skin and causing more damage.

I went to the dermatologist the other day and was curious to see what she would say about vit C and the retin A/renova products. She confirmed that vit c is an antioxidant that helps with pollution etc. When I asked about retin A products "thinning the skin" she said that there is more "science" behind the retin A products than the vit c at this point in time and that retin A has been shown to actually increase the dermal layer of the skin so it should thicken rather than thin. For whatever that is worth..... |

Well, I am 38 and coming frightenly close to 39. (sorry, have never said that big 3-9 out loud)
I live in a VERY polluted climate, so I think I might add some Vit C. to the routine. What the heck, my facial cocktail could use another ingredient or two!
So, if I start using AlphaDerm is the Vit. C content in that going to be enough? Or should I seek out a super dose?
I would prefer a serum type product I think that vanishes into the skin... |

Well, I'm sure you know by now, Tiger, that I use the Cellularskinrx.com C product. Some here have found it too slippery...I use just one drop on my forehead, cheeks, chin and neck (combo skin -oily t-zone sometimes breaks out)and it soaks right in. Mabsy and others here like the Vivier and the Skinceuticals as well so you have many choices. I would recommend a dedicated C serum rather than rely on what small amount (stable or unstable) maybe in the ADCE. You can always put your ADCe over the C and then at least you know that you are getting the protection from UV light, pollution that a good potent C can offer....along with the benefits from the ADce. |

I'm really a new kid on the block with using vitamin C serums after having read through many good reviews on it. I have been using SkinCeuticals C+AHA followed by Phyto+ for a week now and finds that my skin tone is more even. I have yet to see my fading of my sunspots. So far so good, I've not had breakouts. BTW, I'm in my thirties with combo/oily skin. HTH |
