hey guys. well, i haven't been around much lately as i am working my butt off to get my phd thesis ready to go (submitting on 1st oct).
i'll tell you, i am SO tired, fighting sickness and i think Kiwiboy is seriously reconsidering our relationship given how snippy i've been lately (i hate that), so, i need you to all spend the next 5 seconds sending me good vibes to keep me healthy and focused on the task at hand...
the mammoth tome is off to my supervisor on wednesday then i have less than 2 weeks to make any last minute changes so i'll need all the support i can get (then i'm of to the pub for a couple of weeks/months!!!!!)
(nearly Dr.) Kiwigirl. |

Done! Good vibes sent your way! Good luck with it!
Permanently moving into a pub afterwards sounds like a good idea. I just went to work the next day - I knew I should have used alcohol to repress those memories.... Btw, don't laugh, but after I got mine I had a few nightmares about going onstage to get my degree and realising that I was wearing my pyjamas and fluffy slippers Very odd! |

Hey what's a duvet weekend - is that like a weekend in bed under the duvet???? |

(singing) Good, good, good, good vibrations
She's picking up good vibrations
She's picking up good vibrations
So if you can half hang out her and do a PhD, d'ya reckon I can still hang out and get through my 3rd year??
Good luck Doc! |

you guys rock!
i need that at the moment, i'm getting the final draft to my supervisor tomorrow and i am really running out of energy *pops 3rd spirulina, vit b, vit c pill for the day*
BUT the good news is that after i've given it to her to look at, it's the slippery slope to submission!
guapagirl: my god, of course you can get through your 3rd year, sheesh, i had no intention of even doing my phd and here i am, 2 weeks from completion! it all just takes time and focus (or so they say)
littlebo: yes, a duvet weekend sounds like a goer, i've forgotten what Kiwiboy looks like!
em: my field is criminal justice and criminology and my thesis is looking at the development of a system of penal governance for women in new zealand from 1840 to 2000.
Mabsy: thanks for the encouragement! i know what you mean about the dreams, the stress is totally messing with my mind and i'm dreaming about all sorts of totally insane stuff at the moment, very weird...
okay guys, back to it before i fall asleep!
Kiwigirl (trying to stay awake and focused). |

Good luck to you! I've got ten months of the same type ahead of me, and hopefully, I can finish on time (or no money!).
I think I'll move into the office on a permanent basis from January onwards, and forget everything about having a life on the side. Hopefully, my BF can cope for a limited period of time.
Now I only need inspiration and peace of mind, and that someone actually glues me to my chair and deletes all web browsers from my computer. |

Oh...sending plenty of good vibes!
I can totally relate since I resently delivered my extended master paper... I now know I did the right thing when I decided NOT to do a Phd... I am actually going on a job interview for my dream job next week, so maybe kiwigirl will share some of her good vibes with me? |

Hey guys, a quick update!
i got the first complete draft of my thesis done and submitted on wednesday (then collapsed for a couple of days), now i'm just waiting for my supervisor to make any last minute suggestions and it'll be ready to go!
your good vibes have been amazingly helpful and it's great to know i have such fantastic support from all around the world!
so far i think i've spent about $30 on vitamins, spirulina, oj etc. to keep me going and it seems to be helping, less than two weeks to go now - it has to be at the binders on the 29th so actually it's more like 10 days! what's frustrating now is that i can't do anything, i just have to wait... *not one of my strong points*
watch this space...
Kiwigirl (preparing for the final slog!).
ps, just noticed that this is my 101st post! yay for me! |

Kiwigirl,
Sending you good vibes for your thesis !! all your time and focus will be worth it and I'm sure Kiwiboy has patience to see you through. Hope you are holding up okay, I know that adrenalin works in wonderful ways even when you are sick as a dog, I've been fighting a bug for a month now.
Just hang in there....Good luck!

well, all of your good vibes and supportive thoughts obviously helped because i handed in my thesis on friday!!!
yay for me!!! *well actually not yay for me because i had the mother of all hangovers on saturday*!
was all pretty weird towards the end there - quite surreal in fact - but it looked fantastic, all 377 pages of it!!!
anyway, am back at the forum now and boy, have i missed out on a bit! better get reading!
thank you sooo much to all of you, nice to know i have cheerleaders all over the globe, how cool is that!
and kiwiboy and i didn't get divorced over it (well not yet anyway)! |

Congratulations!!
PhD thesis, phew! That is a HUGE achievement.
Kiwiboy should feel very proud that Kiwigirl is intelligent and dedicated enough to have undertaken such a major project.
I only managed to stay focused enough to finish off my BA. Can't imagine how hard the slog must be for a PhD. |

Congrats, congrats. I know it IS a huge undertaking. I've only done a master's thesis and that was enough for me. So when do we start calling you Dr. Kiwigirl?

Thanks you guys. yes i did have a big of a blow-out in terms of alcohol consumption, i think i just lost a week of my life there!
Mabsy: not sure how long the examiners get to read it, but i don't really mind if they take ages! two of them are in the northern hemipshere so it will take a bit to get to them then they'll have to read it, then get it back... maybe before christmas but maybe a bit after. |

I hope they're quick about it. I hated the waiting. Btw, speaking of theses, one has just landed on my desk for review It's the first one I've ever had to do (apart from some Honours ones). I'm rather nervous about it I must say.... |
