I went in for a haircut recently and complained to my stylist that my hair had not had enough volume for me recently. (A little about my hair: it's medium long, fine, and naturally slightly wavy, but I blowdry it straight. I hate limp hair and always aim for big, Angelina Jolie-esque volume.) She suggested I try Bumble and Bumble styling creme, and let me just say that I'm really, REALLY glad she suggested it, because I never would have tried it on my own! I mean seriously, most "styling creams" are packed with silicones and oils---- if I rubbed a paw full of normal styling cream into my roots I'd pretty much be the flat hair queen, but anyway... I like and trust my stylist, and I liked how my hair looked when she used it on me, so I thought "Why not? They sell travel-sized bottles, so if I hate it I'm not out that much $$." Let me just say, the first time I used it on my own, it BLEW ME AWAY. And it continues to blow me away every time I use it. This stuff gives me so much volume, I actually have to brush my hair down a little bit because otherwise the volume is just excessive. It's seriously like magic.... one minute I'm blow drying my damp hair with a round brush, and the next moment--- poof!! Beautiful, beautiful volume! These days thanks to my lovely, voluminous hair I feel like I have to look in the mirror every chance I get. My husband must think I've gone crazy, LOL!
Anyways, for those of you who have hair similar to mine and want to give it a shot, here's how I play it: First, I take a quarter-sized dab and work it vigorously (and I do mean vigorously!) into my roots. Next, I take another dab, anywhere between a nickel and quarter size, and run it through my whole head of hair. (Volumizes, adds texture, AND deals a fatal blow to frizzies and fly aways... have I mentioned yet that I love this stuff??) After that I mist my hair with a few spritzes of Bumble and Bumble's Thickening Spray. Don't get me wrong on the Thickening Spray--- I tried it on its own and it did NOTHING for me, but somehow it has this magical friendship with the Styling Creme and they work really well together. After applying those two products, I just do my thing with my hair dryer and round brush and before I know it, my hair is looking darn good! Oh, and did I mention that both the Styling Creme and the Thickening Spray have a lovely, fresh scent? I'm sensitive to fragrances, but these smell heavenly to me.
The nice thing about Bumble and Bumble is that they do sell travel versions of most of their products, so if you're nervous like me this is a good way to dip your toe in the water. After using these products together just ONE TIME, I marched right back into the salon and bought full sizes of both. Both products are a little spendy (around $25 apiece?), but man, I'd pay double that much to enjoy this much volume! Thank you, Bumble and Bumble! I'd type more, but I have to run my fingers through my irresistably luxurious mane now....^-^ |

I know you were happy (at least at one time) with the Philip Pelusi volumizing product. Is this better, would you say? |

I was wondering the same thing. The Philip Pelusi product is hard for me to get a hold of whereas BB products are available where I live, so this is tempting. My hair is naturally straight and is thinning, so I've been looking for a good volumizing product although I'd prefer something silicone-free. However, if this is even better than Pelusi product, I might have to give it a try. |

Yes I too thought you liked the Philip pelusi product I bought it, but it did nothing for me, well nothing different from any other product. So you think this is better for volume? Yes, I would love Angelina Joliesque hair!!! |

Although I've always been a big fan of the Pelusi mousse, recently for whatever reason I just felt like it wasn't getting the job done, so that's why I wanted to talk to my hairdresser about other options. The BB creme is definitely many times more effective than the Pelusi mousse--- HTH!^-^ |
