When you work out at the gym and get all sweaty, do you have anything on your face at that time? Face cream, etc?
My thinking is that pores are very open during this time so it might be a good idea to have somewhting specific on your face to get deep down in there and clean stuff up? |

personally I try to keep my skin as clean as possible when I am going to be exercising. I also make sure to wash my face as soon as possible afterwards if I've been sweating heavily. I tend to break out otherwise.
If I want something to get deep into my pores I'll do a steam treatment at home (also with clean skin). I think the sweating brings stuff inside out so I'd rather not have anything on my face that would clog my pores and prevent that process. |

I get clogged up easily, so what I do is apply Cellcosmet scrub onto my clean dry face and leave it on as I workout. It does not burn my skin and the actual small scrub particles melt. I like that because it is doing a very gentle exfoliation. |

I do not do anything extraordinary: you do sweat a lot. As soon as possible I cleanse and moisturise though with my favourite Decleor. |

Well, I don't hit the gym that often...but when I do..I ALWAYS wash my face before hand to remove dirt & makeup.
I sometimes carry those pre moistened face wipes in my bag to use before the gym or tanning bed.
It is never a good idea to sweat with dirty skin/ full face of make up. |

what about sunscreen?? aren`t you wearing any sunscreen while you are driving/getting to the gym?? or do you wash your face before exercises?
and then wash again and put sunscreen again??
I always put a vit.C serum, sunscreen and a touch of powder in the morning. how should I proceed when I`m going to exercise?? |

I start off wearing sunscreen. (But I don't specifically put it on beforehand, jsut from the morning). I generally exercise in the evening, so after the gym there's not much sun. In the summer, I try not to wipe my face too much with the paper towel- just blot the sweat if it's necessary so some sunscreen is still there.
If it happened that, say, I went to the gym sunday morning in the summer (or during my lunch break on a week day), then I start off wearing sunscreen in the morning as usual, and then after the workout I wash my face and then reapply a fresh layer of sunscreen. I don't wash my face before exercising. I don't reapply sunscreen in the winter.

thanks Nimue
I don`t wash my face before exercising too, but do the ladies here assume that the face should be clean to "breath" and sweat?
doesn`t sunscreen prevent it? |

I clean my face with Dior cleaning lotion. But not the whole face, as I also like to look pretty in the gym! |

I usually work out at 5am . So i wash my face, apply my rose d'orient and go. There is no sun at 5 am but I was thinking maybe i should do something more... but i guess no need.
I do wash my face right after as well. |

I work out in the morning... so I wash my face, and put on a little toner...
Then I wash when I get home... Main thing is not to leave sweat and product on my face...
Having performed on a stage (dance) with a HUGE facefull of very thick makeup I've NEVER had a problem with sweating and breakouts... but I would NEVER leave my makeup on for more than 30 minutes or so after a show... |

I work out every day and sometimes twice per day. I usually wash off all my makeup before working out. I don't think something bad will happen to your skin even if you don't take off makeup, for you will take a shower after work out. |

sweating is EXCELLENT for your skin. When I work out I am always scheming how to break a really good, allover sweat. Sweating opens up the pores and oxygenates the skin cells. Given that, it is probably best to begin working out with clean skin. Since I bike or walk to the gym I am usually wearing a thin veil of physical sunscreen. After finishing, I splash my face with some lukewarm water and massage in a firming hydrating oil (I always carry with me the small, travel friendly Osea hydrating oil tube with me:

My skin usually drinks this up and looks radiant afterwards. Then I reapply sunscreen if necessary.

I'm bad. I usually don't remove my makeup before the gym. Like I said, bad. BUT on the days when I'm not frazzled and running out the door, I'd like to think that I use makeup remover wipes so I'm not sweating foundation. MAC has good ones, so does Garnier. |

I was actually speaking of non make up products, but i have always wondered for those of you that wear make up to the gym- for whatever reason- how exactly do you not look scary after your work out?
Only once did i have make up on during my work out and OMG afterwards I terrified my own self- all the sweat made me look scary. |

As for non-makeup products I use them before I go to the gym. My skin is very sensitive and I have to use a moisturiser after I clean it. Your skin will absorb the moisturiser and the rest you can take off with a cloth or clean tissue. When you sweat you will also sweat out the rest of the moisturiser that was not absorb by your skin. I don't think using creams or other products will harm your skin. |

I'm a bad girl, I wear sunscreen and natural makeup to the gym. My face doesn't sweat at all, it just gets a little more greasy. I don't really sweat that much either. I must be a lazy git.
I'm scrupulous about cleaning the handlebars to gym machines before and after usage though. Sometimes I step on and I can feel that they're sticky, uggh. How do people have sticky sweat? |

When I hit the gym, I try to have as little on my skin as possible. I don't think that putting on many products will help - kinda the opposite actually as I think the products will prevent all the sweat from coming out properly!
I'll just put on a moisturizer before leaving the house and then after my workout, wash my face and put on a hydrating mask (as all the pores will be open from sweating) and that's it |

i would love to go to the gym with a clean make-up free face but I am too embarrassed of my uneven skin tone and the small breakouts I have. I have some post acne scars that kill my self esteem.
I however, do make sure right after the gym that I go and take a very hot shower to keep my pores open until I can apply my face creams. I use Mary Kay 5% Benzoyl Peroxide treatment, followed by Avon Ageless Results to moisturize, and then a light dusting of Bare Escentuals Blemish Treatment Therapy loose powder which contains natural sulfur. I have noticed a HUGE improvement in my skin. It was very bad a few months back, make-up couldn't even cover it! Now things are looking up and I am in search of things to heal my old scars since I am not getting new acne scars anymore! |

Don't wear any make-up and let your skin breathe. Otherwise, it is prone to get clogged. |

I don't wear any make up and I wash my face before I work out, because the sweat might cause clogged pores with make up/creams |

Oh Kat, I feel for you not wanting to go into the gym bare-faced. If it's any consolation, my face always looks horrid when I work out. I'm always the reddest, sweatiest-faced person in there and I'm impressed you can keep anything on your face at all. And congrats on your improvement |
