Any idea on how to remove the false shine on synthetic wigs? I've tried dusting with talc but that gives it a greyish color. I've tried soaking it in a vinegar solution too. |

I've thought about using a hair powder (like the one Bumble & Bumble makes, that comes in different hair colours) to take the synthetic shine down. I haven't actually worked out the mechanics of this yet, but it ought to do the trick, in theory. Maybe a light coat of wig spray first to help the powder adhere, shake on and distribute the hair powder, then another shot of wig spray afterward to seal it. (Watch that hair powder, though -- it gets on your face so easily but you may not notice it for several hours, when your skin oils make it bloom. Voila -- instant dirty smears. Nice.) |
