Having worked as a make-up artist in the past, I have worked-with and used a variety of different brands. Some expensive, some outrageous, and some that are an absolute steal! For myself, I am all about the thrill of the hunt, and getting more for my money. When I am in a drugstore, I love cruising the cosmetic isles. I also love to read magazines which rate good buys vs. high-end. Here are a few products that I cannot live without!

Rimmel - Extra Super Lash Mascara in Black http://www.rimmellondon.com/me/

Maybelline - Expert Eyes Eyebrow Pencils in Blonde http://www.maybelline.com/products/productDetail.aspx?prodid=19

Cover Girl: TruBlend foundation.

Annabelle (Canadian): love their powder blush in shade #2! http://www.annabellecosmetics.com/

Marcelle (Canadian): their eyeshadows are beautiful, highly blendable! `Just bought a mini collection called "Miss. Saigon". It's shimmery pink! Cost: $14.99! http://www.marcelle.com/English/makeUp/productsSubCategory.cfm?cCat_id=2&cSubCat_id=32

Quo (Canadian): great shadows, and they come out with cool collections. http://www.shoppersdrugmart.ca/english/beauty/products/quo_cosmetics/eyes/index.html

I hear a lot of good things about the Rimmel mascara and always forget to buy it!!! I'm going to give it a go - b/c I've tried them ALL and still haven't found my HG. Right now I'm using the Prescriptives False Eyelashes - it's okay, not mindblowing, and also Lancome's Hypnose (or whatever its called). Dried out sooo quickly, it really aggravated me. Not a bad mascara, but for the price it should have last longer than one month.

Agree: expensive mascaras are not the end-all, be-all. I won't buy them anymore. I'd rather put the savings towards something else, or another piece of make-up.

I agree that the Rimmel mascaras are very good. Wish they came in more colours though.. have only found black and brown where I live.

I also use a eyeshadow base/primer from ArtDeco. This makes all eyeshadows (even the cheapest..) stick on the lid without creasing all day! Love this product!

I really love Almay's Long Lasting Concealer. I'm not sure if that is exactly the right name!

Also I love L'Oreal's repair wear lip repair/gloss.

And also can't live without Rimmels 1000 Kisses lipliner in Tiramisu!

I also have some cheap favs:

Maybelline mascaras; in particular Sky High Curves and Volum'Express
L'Oreal (color appeal) eyeshadows; good quality, although we have a limited selection of colors to choose from here in Europe.
L'Oreal and Simple (UK brand) eye make-up removers. Both do the job well, and remove even waterproof mascara without rubbing.

As far as cheap favorites go, I've been using Almay mascara for years, think its every bit as good as the department store brands. Just recently saw Rimmel products at Walgreens the other day. I'll have to give it a try. Razz
