I have an oily and acne-prone skin, which gets even worse as I am pregnant now.
I have recently bought some Decleor products that have great review on the forum.
The ylang ylang essence, essential balm, whitening purifying masque and the cleansing milk.
I know that retinol, BHA are not recommended for use during pregnancy. Even ingredients like soy or lecithin is said to worsen melasma/chloasma.
I was just wondering if essential oils are safe to be used during pregnancy? I am rather desperate with my skin at the moment, but the baby's safety is always the priority, right?
Thanks a lot. |

Hello! I just had a 'Mother-to-be' treatment at a Decleor spa (a treat for Christmas!) and asked that very same question.
For the body, my therapist said to avoid the detox body items. The Aromessence baume sculpt, perfect sculpt stretch mark restructuring gel-cream, and Aromessence sculpt body firming concentrate are perfectly fine (all Decleor Perfect Sculpt have undergone test on pregnant women...see http://www.decleor.co.uk/features/2008/pampered_pregnancy/index.php)
As for the face, she indicated my aromessence face oil is fine. Didn't think to ask about masks etc., though I did get a mini facial mask with my treatment.
In my readings about essential oils, its been indicated to not take cinnamon or mint internally...and I don't use them externally either. Some aromatherapists here recommend avoiding essential oils for the first three months..but then a lot of the stretch mark body oils have essentials added to them, and these oils are used daily.
Congratulations! Hope this info is of some assistance. |

Thanks a lot, Myamax
Your reply has been helpful.
i thought of using Dermalogica, but then a lot of its products have salicylic acid (some only the tiniest trace),but then Salicylic is supposedly not safe, although some websites say 2% is safe.
Thus, I chose Decleor instead.
I think I just have to confirm with my Gp, as I am still in very early stage of pregnancy.
What about Babor products? Are they safe? |
