Has anyone tried the new product "Absence" from Jane Iredale? It's supposed to be an oil-absorbing powder. How does it compared to the pressed matt powder?
Thanks. |

Hi,
I thought it was supposed to be more of a balm type of product...similar to Smashbox's anti shine compact...oh well.
I haven't tried it, but I emailed them for a list of ingredients some time ago, they haven't replied
I won't try it unless I know what's in it...
I'll post the ingredients if/when they tell me, in case anyone is interested. |

Hi Dalguy.
Oh really? I originally thought it was a powder from the picture on the website.
Yes, I'm interested in the ingredients of it. Please post it here when you get it.
Thanks! |

Can you post a link to where Absence is shown. Is it available from EDS?
I use Jane Iredale loose powder and the compact, but still have a problem with an oily forehead.

It's not currently available from EDS as far as I know, but it's listed here;
http://www.janeiredale.com/whatsnew/whatsnew.html
"SHINE IS NOTABLE BY ITS ABSENCE
We're so excited about this product! It's going to make a huge difference to oily skins, skins that need some smoothing out before applying makeup, and to skins with color change.
After all, the interaction of oil and makeup is one of the principle causes of color change.
Absence helps with all these challenges by forming an attraction barrier between the skin and makeup so that makeup can stay on longer, and skin stays shine-free.
Absence doesn't just absorb oil the way most oil-control products do, but actually helps to control over-active sebaceous glands. It has no effect on the actual moisture of the skin. The seaweed content in this product also helps to regulate the pH balance of the skin. You have to try this to believe it!
If all that isn't enough, Absence also has a broad spectrum SPF 15." |

The description and picture is the same as the link in the Jane Iredale website as posted by Dalguy. |

Thanks, I swear I looked there a few times but didn't see anything...JI is pretty expensive...but I've seen her products in action. They're worth it for the most part. |

Doesn't Jane Iredale have a Pure Matte Finish Powder already? What's the difference between that and the new Absence then? |

Hey guys...
I found the ingredients to Absence:
Ingredients:
Active Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide (CI77891) 5%, Zinc Oxide (CI77947) 2.5%
Other ingredients: Ethyl Macadamiete, Mica, Dimethicone, Isododecane, Hydrated Silica, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Boron Nitride, Iron Oxieds (CI77489, CI77491, CI77492, CI77499), Algae Extract, Laminaria Saccharina (Seaweed) Extract, Viola Odorata (Violet) Leaf Extract, Camellia Oleifera (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Extract, Tribehenin, Bisabolol, Tocopheryl Acetate.
Usage:
Apply on oily facial areas with the special sponge included. Use alone or under any other mineral bases.
I'm not so much of an ingredients reader as a lot of stuff really doesn't bother my skin. I'm more interested in how this product actually works. If anyone has tried it, please post what you think. I went to my usual shop where I test out the Jane Iredale stuff and she didn't have Absence in yet.
Also, has anyone tried her new Disappear concealing product? How does it compare to her Circle Delete or CoverCare?
Thanks!

Bonnie,
Thanks for posting the ingredients. I don't buy products without knowing them.
As I thought, it's a silicone product. (Dimethicone) And wow, Mica is up pretty high on the list, too. Not that there is much irritation or comedogenic potential, but most people do not like the finish mica gives the skin...I've heard it's shiny or "glimmery". Imparting a bit of sparkle, if you will.
I think I'll skip this product...seems unnecessary. A lot of silicone products are pretty matte...Clinique's Instant Perfector for one. This one does have physical sunscreen, which is an advantage over most shine control products...
I'd like to know what people think of it, in any case. |

What Bonnie said intrigues me...does anyone (Judy??) know if there's a retailer in the Austin area that sells JI products? As I posted elsewhere under one of the JI topics, I'm interested in trying out her liquid minerals foundation (I'm currently happily "married" to BE Bare Minerals foundation #3), but I wasn't sure what color JI I should use and I didn't want to buy online in case I got stuck with a pig-in-a-poke, so it would be great if I could visit a store and try out the JI products first. If there's nowhere in Austin, then Bonnie -- can you tell me where you get them in Dallas? I'll be up in your neck of the woods during the holidays, so maybe I can include a stop at the JI-store as part of "To Do" list.....
TIA,
Carrie |

Carrie,
There are lots of places here in Dallas that carry Jane Iredale. Most of them are dermatologist offices, plastic surgery centers or skin care clinics/spas.
If you go to JaneIredale.com they have a product locator feature on their website. Just type in your zip code and that will tell you where there are locations near you.
I am so glad that I went about the mineral foundation search this way. I sampled a ton of companies and ended up spending $$$ in tiny samples that were either not my color, the wrong consistency, or I didn't know how to properly apply them.
Going to a place that sold Jane Iredale gave me an EXACT color match, precise tips on application method, and all I paid for was the price of the compact. I actually didn't even buy it the first time I got the consultation (which was free). I wanted to see how it wore on my face. I just happened to like it so much that I went back to purchase later that day.
I haven't looked back since.
I'm sure you can find a ton in Austin, but if you can't I'll be glad to give you the name and number of some good retailers here in the Dallas area. |

Carrie....
I feel sure there are places in Austin that sell JI. So far, I've bought all mine out here at Marble Falls. Bonnie's suggestion is best on locating a retailer, but I would be there are many that do market it in Austin.

Unfortunately, when I tried to zip code search on the JI website, as Bonnie suggested, the webpage turned out to be “blocked” as “------------” by the AG’s surf-control software!!! Grrrr! (This is not surprising – I can’t access my bank’s website online from work because it’s also blocked for being “sexually explicit”!!!). Judy - where do you buy your JI products in Marble Falls? I drive out that way every couple months to visit a cousin, so mayhap I can swing by your store next time I’m there. I guess I’ll have to stop by the library on the way home one of these days so I can use one of their computers and hope they haven’t also got JaneIredale.com blocked, too! |

Carrie...
I went to the site and searched area code 512 and there are stores/spas pretty much all over Austin, north, south and surrounding areas. PM me your zip code and I'll try to narrow it down for you.
In Marble, I buy mine at Accents Salon and Day Spa. It's the new one on Highway 281 and their phone is 830/693-7573. Don't know if they have the Absence, but they do have a very large selection. I know there is a new Day Spa out at the new hotel at Horseshoe Bay too and I'll be they might have it. Just depends on what area you are visiting.
Accents also has lot of really neat costume jewelry, Brighton purses and shoes, etc. and they usually have good sales and specials.
