We may not want to admit it, but winter is just around the corner. This means that your skin care regime must change in order to accommodate those harsh winds and dry days.
Stocking up on quality skin care products is a good idea, though these products alone won't help you fight those winter winds. Thankfully, there are some things that you can do to protect your skin all winter long. Do you want to know the best part about winter skin care steps? They are easy to accomplish, and they will provide you with glowing skin all year long.
Let's begin with dry skin, since it is the number one skin care complaint during the winter months. Many people believe that dry skin is caused by a lack of oil within the skin. Simply put, this is not true. You see, dry skin occurs when water is lacking. Drink more water during the winter months, and make sure to slather yourself in a good natural moisturizer when you get out of the shower every morning.
Additionally, if you get into the habit of eating healthy foods that contain lots of fatty acids, you will find that your skin responds favourably to this type of diet. Foods like nuts, figs, dried fruits, and some seeds are packed with the nutrients that your skin needs. It is also really important to use a great facial moisturizer daily. |

Hi SeaBella,
Drink more water, eat healthy foods... Got it. (Just please don't ask me to exercise more too - that's just too much healthy for me at one time. LOL) |

Heck..I concentrate on my skin just to find an excuse to avoid exercising!
But that won't be lasting for long sigh...2008 was The Year of the Skin, and I am making 2009 The Year of the Body. Ugh. |

Gah, I think 2009 will be the Year of Exercise for me. I'll jump to conclusions, run off at the mouth, spin my wheels and throw my weight around. That's gotta be good for a couple of calories, no? |

I agree...
winter time comes around it's time to go back to creams and put the lotions aside!
also it means a better daily spf product because those nasty UV ways in the winter is worse than summer time since we are not as conscious in putting spf on! |

I thought dry skin was lacking oil and dehydrated skin was lacking water? There is a difference. |

As previous poster said you should use creams instead of lotions during a winter time. If you want to use lotions do that at night and in the morning put some creamy moisturizer on your skin to protect it from wind burns and cold. |

Flax seed oil (or another omega 3, or better - a mixture of omegas 3-6-9, like Udo's Oil) would be a great supplement for winter skin.
I also take at the moment a zinc supplement, which is good not only for the skin, but in general - for the immune system.
As for topical application - Decleor Iris Balm and Suki nourishing serum work well for me (ain't i a broken record? ) |

my skin looks like night and day..depending on whether i am including essential fatty acids in my diet..especially omega 3's..and sinc ei'm a vegan...the best source of that for me are chia seeds and hemp seeds and their oils (chia is higher in omega 3's than hemp..and hemp more so than flax)) |
