I would like to hear some advice for a makeup for women over 50. I have pretty good skin that is prone to acne still. I like a natural look. I'd also love to hear some tips on using eye makeup for my age. I don't want to look too made up. ![Confused](images/smiles/confused.gif) |

Hi - Lauren Hutton Face Disc is well received by many in the over 40 age group. It comes with a CD to show application and is a nice, product which supports a natural appearance. I've used it and two of Lauren's passports (Tahiti and Brazil and like them both)..
There is a thread on the face disc and also a long and information thread for women over 55 - good stuff for anyone at 50 years of age.
Happy Searching and best of luck ....

I think soft and natural is the way to go. I now use a tinted moisturiser instead of foundation - it gives a much more flattering dewy look to the skin. I use NCN's Sheer Mineral Tint.
A cream blush is also much better than a powder one.
For eye shadow - stick with neutral shades in a mat formula - and don't overdo the eyeliner. HTH |

Soft lip colors. Reds are too harsh.
Another nice base makeup that has an SPF is Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer. I've used that off and on for years. It softens the face, gives a slight touch of color (very natural) and has spf - 20 I think. Or using a tinted sunscreen. I am using ZO which is a bit pricey but lovely. There are other similar options that are less expensive. |

Powder can accentuate fine lines, so I tend to avoid it. Satiny eyeshadow with slight shimmer can actually help disguise slightly crepey eyelids, whereas very shimmery shadows act to magnify the problem. I think sheer lipstick is most flattering, and you can even go somewhat darker or brighter as long as the lip color is sheer and slightly moist looking. And blush must be used sparingly.
Let me second sister sweet's recommendation of the Lauren Hutton Face Disk--the best part is all the tips in the kit for natural, flattering makeup application. For lipstick, you can't go wrong with Julie Hewett's bijou sheer lipsticks or Vincent Longo's stick style lip stains. I adore the Julie Hewett cream blush Cheekies--so versatile and natural looking. And if you use foundation, Chanel Vitalumiere is sheer and dewy. |
