Right now, I'm happily "married" to my Bare Escentuals "Bare Minerals" foundation #3 but since everyone is raving about JI, I've decided to give it a go. At first I thought I wanted to try the JI Liquid Minerals, but after reading all of the reviews on MUA which said it tends to make one's large pores look even larger or how it made one's über-oily complexion look even worse, I've decided that maybe I should stick with the powdered foundation. So then I started reading the MUA reviews for the loose powder minerals foundation and found that it has received a lot of the same complaints (especially how it looks oily/greasy after less than an hour -- man, I so don't need that!!). That leaves me with the JI pressed mineral foundation....

Although I do tend to trust the reviewers on MUA (they haven't steered me wrong yet!), I also wanted to get some input from you guys here. As I have lamented in many other posts, I have the oiliest skin you can possiby imagine so I don't need to wear a makeup that's going to exacerbate/emphasize my unfortunate problem. So which JI foundation formulation do y'all recommend I try? One of the MUA reviewers said that you can order multiple samples of JI foundations (both pressed or loose) fromwww.skin-etc.com for $3 plus a "flat" S&H charge of $5, which sounds like a good deal to me since another common theme on MUA was how ladies had a ton of problems trying to figure out which shade to buy!

Anyway, if y'all have any advice to offer a JI-virgin, I'm all ears!!

TIA,
Carrie

I think so far I have only tried the Liquid Minerals. I actually had two of these: Biqsue and Warm Silk. I ended up giving Warm Silk to my mum as it was a tad too dark for me.

My experiences with it have been very positive and I have not had any problems with oiliness or larger looking pores. I would definitely repurchase. I will most probably buy this for my mum again as well. She loves it and is currently "saving" it because she's running low but she's not used to buying foundation over Au$20 Laughing

Carrie,

I have super oily skin, too.

I'm sure with Bare Escentuals you probably get a lot of shine. I did.

I use the Jane Iredale pressed powder in Warm Sienna. I'm probably about an NC25. However, I have almost no shine, but still a nice glow when I brush a bit of her Pure Matte Finishing Powder over top of my foundation. I also use it underneath sometimes too. You can do it either way.

This way gives me perfectly flawless skin. It's definitely a good thing.

Oh yeah....you can get the Pure Matte Finishing powder for around $20 on eBay. Not too bad of a deal if you ask me.

Bonnie -

I use BE foundation in #3 (medium) -- any idea what that would "translate" to in JI pressed foundation? I'm betting I'm going to have to go the route of ordering those samples, like I mentioned above, I order to get the right color. While reading thru the MUA reviews, I also noticed that most folks said to visit an JI retailer or order the samples to find your exact color, then order your products on Ebay because it's nearly 50% cheaper -- that sounds like perfectly sound advice to me!! As I said, my biggest worry (other than greasy skin) is getting the right shade...I'd be super-pissed if I spent $50 (or however much it costs) and found out I got the wrong color!!
