Review: Darphin Creme Reductrice (Reducing Cream)
Ive been using this for around 6 weeks now so I reckon Im kind of qualified to submit a review.
Firstly, I just want to add that at a time when my La Prairie * spam alert * was reaching heights even I thought not possible (particularly for the Normalizing Serum) Im so glad I decided to buy this.
Price: I purchased it from Ebay for only £16 (for 50ml), but it normally retails for around £36-40. Darphin is a line thats very difficult to get hold of in the UK, so Ebay or strawberrynet are your best bet.
How it works: When I first unscrewed the frosted glass jar (sigh - why cant all skincare be in pump bottles!) the fragrance of a thousand flowers hit me, smack bang up my nostrils, after which I thought, Farouk what have you done you silly beggar. Having said this however, the appearance and consistency of this cream intrigued me - its difficult to describe but I would definetly say its a cross between a wax and cream - its like a moderately thick shiny paste - Ive never seem a skincare product with this texture or appearance before. It gave me the feeling that I was using a really expensive treatment - which is great because I really am a snob - or more delicately put - I enjoy the finer things in life!
Well anyway, I did my usual routine and added this on last. Its only my T-Zone thats oily, everywhere else im bone dry, but I still applied it everywhere. Im glad you only need a small amount - a little goes a very long way. I reckon Ive only used a about 1/4 in the 6 weeks ive had it. My skin was instantly matte. Absolute absence of oiliness in my oil slick areas - and my skin felt really soft in the dry areas. I thought wow. I also thought dont get too carried away because the obvious judge of this product is how long it keeps you matte for - and to my absolute shock - this was *all* day. I kept touching my face and couldnt believe it. I also loved the fact that this kept my dry areas soft - and didnt leave me with the dry patches that Decleor's mattifier did during the day. I hate moisturising for the day, I find Dermalogica's Active Moist just a bit too greasy for daytime use, and so really wanted to find a product that would serve as both a mattifier and moisturiser. I really didnt think this was possible, but it has been! I should also add ive never broken out from it, but I dont have a tendancy to with products anyway, so this was no major shock.
Ive found my HG mattifier (and daytime moisturiser I should add!)
This product is so much better than Decleor's Hydra-Mat Regulateur. It was very nice in the texture and fragrance department but absolutely rubbish in the length-of-time-keeping-me-matte department.
I also forgot to add that if your a woman (for those that dont know me im a bloke) it really, really improves your make-up wear (according to my sis). My sister raved about this when she used it. I think she applied it underneath her foundation. So if any of you ladies have this problem this product would serve another function for you.
Overall: A great mattifier and moisturiser which is great at improving make-up wear if your a girly .
So thats my mini-rave!
Farouk

I really like Darphin products - ive tried a few of them now. I just wished they werent so darn difficult to get hold of here in the UK. Its very annoying when I cant access the skincare I like so readily!
Check out reviews for some of the products - theyre rated quite favourable at makeupalley.com. |
