I'm looking for a new tweezer that works well. Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Anna

Hi Hayleigh's Mom,

I'll be very interested to see the responses to this one.

I have been on a quest to find a really good pair of tweezers for years. I have spent a lot of money on a pair ... and I have also purchased Tweezerman pairs. I have found that none of those in my collection are able to "grab" really tiny hairs.

I have a 12X magnifying mirror ... so I can see the tiniest hairs ... but all of the tweezers I've purchased seem to be unable to grip them those hairs ... as if even though the gripping surface looks smooth and "sharp" ... it really isn't. Almost as if the area is too fat to actually grab onto those tiniest hairs.

I've tried every "shape" ... from very sharp [which is supposed to be able to get splinters etc] to slanted to flat. So far none has passed that particular test. Crying or Very sad

The ones I like the best ... even though they failed the above test ... is a pair of Tweezerman with a "rounded pointed" end ...

But I'd still like to find a pair that was sharp enough to grab those tiny hairs at the stage where I can see and feel them but can't grab them.

Mary

oooooohhhh

i'm a plucking/tweezing fanatic. There's now a shoebox that serves as my graveyard for tweezers that didn't live up to their promises. Implements ranging from 99 cents to 50 bucks....and after years and years of disappointment, i finally found the CADILLAC of tweezers -

They're called "Tiny Tweeze Slant Tip Precision Tweezers"

My family was so addicted, they kept stealing mine. So I had to buy one for each person. And they're only $3 bucks each!!!

Walgreens. Rite Aid. Walmart. Target....

It's been a heavily requested stocking stuffer so I think I depleted all the stores in my area for their supply.

I love tweezerman firtly and revlon cross secondly. Tweezers are very important to me, and out of all I've tried these have worked the best.

I used the higher price tweezerman for a long long time, UNTIL I discovered Rubis tweezers. They're just awesome and they last forever! More than worth their slightly higher (ahem) price....

I use the tweezerman which cost me almost $40 CAD but it is soo worth it because it lasts forever! I've had this tweezer for years and it is so precise to get away the most stubborn ingrown hairs. I use this tweezer everyday and i reccommend investing in a good tweezerman.

I had a love/hate relationship with my slanted Tweezermans because they’d always slice the hair off at the base, leaving me with a lovely little black spot which I was unable to tweeze until the hair started to “sprout” again....

I am happy to report that my Tweezermans have been added on to my Swap List over on MUA because I found a pair of tweezers that finally lived up to the hype. What am I talking about? My tweezers from the Beverly Hills Eyebrow Guru to the Stars, Anastasia! I think they were about $22 but I got mine as part of an eyebrow grooming kit at Sephora.

So, Carekate,

If I were to do a google search on these tweezers ... any idea what they are called exactly? Or should I just search on Anastasia?

Thanks

Mary

ps I tried to find those inexpensive tweezers mentioned above ... but couldn't find anything in rural Ontario that seemed to be a match. *sigh*

Follow this link to Sephora to get a look at the Anastasia tweezers: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P69502

As I said, I got mine as part of the 7-piece kit (click here: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P69306&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=5746 ). The reason I chose the kit over buying the tweezers separately was because I want to try out some of the other items in her line so it came out cheaper to get the kit than if I had bought each item separately.

In addition to the Anastasia tweezers, I *highly* recommend the brow highlighting pencil (click here: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P69505 ) – it’s pricey, but it gives the effect that I’ve tried for years to achieve using a pale eyeshadow on the brow bone like they taught us back when we were first learning to wear makeup! Even though this pencil costs around twenty bucks if bought separately, I’ll still repurchase it after my current one (that came in the kit) runs out.

Another thing I can’t rave about enough is the Anastasia brow scissors (click here: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P69601). I’ve tried dozens of little scissors in the past to clip and trim my brows – remember Brooke Shields’ eyebrows in the early 80s? That’s how thick and unruly my brows are! Anyway, with all of the scissors I tried previously, something would invariably go wrong and I’d end up trimming too big of a chunk of hair at of at least one brow – this might be because I’m left-handed and all of the scissors were designed for the right-handed world, but I haven’t had that problem with the Anastasia scissors. They’re made in such a way that they are truly “ambidextrious” – unfortunately, I had to purchase the scissors separately as they did not come as part of the kit.

I also prefer the Anastasia brow “pomade” (click here: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P69301&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=5746) over the brow powder and wish that the pomade was part of the kit instead of the powder. In the past I’ve raved about the Smashbox Brow Tech powder and wax duo, but I’ve been using the Anastasia brow pomade for about 6 weeks now and can report that I love it just as much as the Smashbox stuff!

HTH,
Carrie

The other day, while in Shoppers Drug Mart, I happened to look at the LaCross tweezer section and there was a small pair with the term "Tiny" in the name of them.

I recalled GirlBlue's comment about the "cadillac" of tweezers being called "Tiny Tweeze" and being about $3.00 a pair.

Well ... the LaCross pair did have the name "Tiny" in it [and might even have been called Tiny Tweeze but I can't recall offhand] ... and they were $3.99 ... and even came with a little case!

I purchased them ... and they really ARE better than other, more expensive ones that I've purchased. They have the slant "head" that GirlBlue mentioned ... and it could be their small size that makes them better than most.

At any rate ... it would make a certain amount of sense that in Canada, the "brand" name of the tweezers that GirlBlue got would be "LaCross" ... given that they are everywhere here.

At any rate ... these are terrific ... so for Canadians who had been unable to locate the exact brand name of GirlBlue's tweezers should check out LaCross.

I just so happen to carry a pair of LaCross Tiny Tweeze-(ers) in my car, to pluck stray brow and chin hairs (ugh!) when I'm stopped at a traffic light! There's just something about actual sunlight that allows you to see *hundreds* of tiny, stray brow hairs when you thought your brows were already neat and tidy.... Shock

Same here. Price is horrible, but they last forever AND are the sharpest, most precise I've seen so far.

I have been using Tweezerman tweezer for years and it is still sharp, gets the very fine and tiny hairs out precisely. This is a must for my eyebrows!!!

I have this little "plier" looking tweezer I picked up in Mexico. I quite like it.

These are my favorite tweezers ever made. They last forever. They are completely accurate. They don't cut hair off (like some that are sharpened incorrectly), they pull it out, end of story. They are cute and comfortable. They are very easy to use.....
And they are very hard to come by, unfortunately! I used to get mine at an old-school pharmacy in Oregon but amazon.com seems to be the only place I can find them nowadays.
