I've been loving my soaks in the tub lately and have been going through bath salts and bath bombs like crazy!
What are your favorite bath salt brands and scents. My fave right now is Dead Sea Bath Salts, Eucalyptus by Adovia. |

I love any bath bombs from Lush and Sumbody. I've been using Body Aches bath salts by Carol's Daughter and really like that as well. If I don't have any of those on hand I always have a stock of epsom salts in my closet. |

Why buy them when you can easily make them yourself!
The advantages are:
* The product is fresh
* You can control what's in it
* It's economical
Try using coarse sea salt (a great detoxifier) as a base, and add...
Powdered milk as an exfolliant
Epsom salts as a softner
Jojoba oil (or similar) to moisturize
Essential oils like lavender, ylang ylang, eucalyptus etc. |

I totally agree with luvyourskin! I buy bulk sea salt and kelp from health food stores or Asian markets. Two small handfuls of salt, some kelp and some essential oils such as lavender, geranium, and juniper berry directly to the bath water. I like this for detoxification, and absence of ingredients that might detract from the detox experience. |

If you make your own - how much essential oil do you add in? |

I use bath salts and other bubble foam together. It helps shake off the stress, even though it doesn't smell very good. |

My absolute fave is Burt's Bees Baby Bee Buttermilk Bath powder. It smells delicious (like a combination of milk and apricots... very warm and comforting), and it makes my skin so soft too. It also comes in a precious re-usable glass bottle that looks like an old-style milk bottle. |

read the whole post and i have some interests on making my own bath salts.
it sounds easy and economical, but i am afraid i can't mix all the ingrediants with a proper quantity.
i need detoxing effect, i know i need the junpier barry oil.
and by the way, what's the difference between soaks and bath salts?
thanks |

mmm what a good idea adding adding kelp. epsom salts are cheap and relaxing from the drugstore (3 dollars for a big bag). I love Lush bombs, I love the refreshing ones (like the orange one) a little bit spicy and unexpected. |

This is in response to the posters who asked how to DIY. While my tub is filling, I add two palmfuls of sea salt to the water, then two squares (about 3 inch by 4 inch) of kelp (konbu). Then I take a tablespoon of grapeseed oil, and add three drops each of lavender, geranium, and juniper berry. Mix that up, and pour into the running bath water. Then step into the tub and relax for at least 20 mins. |

SALTS are the products you add to your bath to have a SOAK.
I often use plain sea salt- two hand fulls into running water, grapeseed, jojoba, or olive oil bout a tablespoon with generous drops of whatever scent tickles me.
Nice alternative and dirt cheap is powdered milk that can be purchased from any grocery... |
