I have noticed a lot of people recommending vitamin C serums and have found a few DIY recipes in this forum. For those that would prefer purchase a product, does anyone have any recommendations? |

I recall there are quite a few threads recommending C serums on this forum. Skinceuticals CE seems a popular choice. |

I've been thinking of adding the Skinceuticals CE Ferulic to my Obagi Nu Derm regime. I'm confused as to the new Skinceuticals Phloretin. I wonder why they made an "improved " version, but still recommend using the CE Ferulic with it. I would like to add just one of them, but can't decide.Does anybody know the difference? Why didn't they just make it one product? I've been very happy with the Nu Derm and noticed a Vit C can be used with the program.Anyone know anythingabout this? Thanks in advance. |

c4ward - the reviews on MUA all say that the new one is better for oily skin and the other is better for dry. That's the only difference that I've read so far. |

I should add that you will not be happy with Skinceuticals C E Ferulic if you have oily or combination skin, it is for dry skin type. |

Agave,
If it's tacky feeling, would it be better to put on at night? So many people like it, so how do you all deal with the tacky feeling? My skin is pretty normal and I've heard so many good things about Skinceuticals C E Ferulic but I think I'd be bothered by stickiness. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I just started using the C E and Ferulic this week and have decided I will only use it at night. I don't get a tacky feeling but it did make my face too shiny for daytime. The smell goes away as soon as it's absorbed so it doesn't bother me. If you do get a tacky feeling I would think it would go away after applying moisturizer on top. That's what I do anyways. |

Skinceuticals isn't the only game in town. Here on EDS you can order a number of popular C serums, including Cellularskin-rx, PSF, several by Vivier, Skinmedica, and I know I'm forgetting some. Textures are often different depending on the formulation, so if you find one too sticky, others may suit you better. |

Here's a reasonably priced one, although I haven't tried it:

They offer a B5 serum also. |

I could live with the smell, but the sticky-tacky feeling was disgusting and bothered me. Also it was making me super-oily. |

c4ward, I`ve repurchased Skinmedica vit.C complex and am very happy with it. It is a vit.C + vit.E serum in a polysiliconic base, so it will suit only those people who can tolerate silicones. It is not sticky, has no smell and does not make me oily. |

That's funny, I don't find the Skinceuticals C E Ferulic to be smelly or tacky and it doesn't make my face shiny. It absorbs easily and quickly and other products layer over it well. Just be sure when you're choosing a Vitamin C product that it contains l-ascorbic acid. And, Vitamin C really should be used in the morning so you can benefit from the added sunscreen protection it gives. |

I buy the samples from ebay and have never had a problem with freshness. You can also buy it from skinstore.com which is having a 20% off sale until May 4 or from the Skinceuticals website. |

Thank you all very much for your input. Some of you mentioned a smell associated with Skinceuticals C E Ferulic. What does it smell like? |

I think they are expensive products with "interesting" additions to the Vit C..
As I understand it: only a 10% solution is needed at a low Ph of 2.2-3.0.
The silicone in SkinMedica concerns me |
