I like knowing how to pronounce anything properly. Anyone know for sure on these oils?
Ylang Ylang (Lang-Lang?, e-lang e-lang?)
Calendula (Ca-LEN-dula?, Cal-en-DOO- la?)
Jojoba (I've been pronouncing it Huh-hoe-bah?, could it be Ho-Ho-bah?)
Neroli (I have no idea on this one)
I'm sure there are more but can't think of them now. Maybe someone else can list some more that's difficult to pronounce. |

I'm sure some of it is regional/cultural differences.
I've always called them
e-lang e-lang
ka-len-dew-la
ho-ho-bah
neh-row-lee
How about Cypress? like the Island, sigh-prys
or sip-russ?
I go with the island.
But we could always go for the latin to avoid getting them mixed up..then again maybe not. |

Interesting question. You can visit http://www.meriamwebster.com to look the words up and click on the little megaphone to hear the pronunciations. |
