She's sort of clownish looking, with her face so light. Hydroquinone is scary; I wish there were more products with alternative ingredients like azaleic, mandelic acid, etc. I recently read about Rumex which is a tyrosinase inhibitor supposedly that rivals HQ- I wonder about it.... |

She looks strange now, she looked better before.
I think its so strange that everyone always wants to be on the other side of the fence. Tanning versus bleaching... its the same mentality, no? |

Hi Milbader,
Thank you for posting these pics.
Is there a safe level of hydroquinone? I use the Obagi-C System Clarifying Serum, which has a 4% hydroquinone. |

I think 4% is the normal level. To be safe, a lot of companies recommend using it or 3months on, and then taking a break for three months.
It's one of those hotly debated topics in skincare ingredients- here is an article that came out just today!

People like this woman are the ones who give Hydroquinone a bad name by abusing it. It is not meant for long term use or to change the skin tone you were born with. Those of use who use it the way it's intended will end up losing a great effective product because of the people who choose to use it in the manner this lady did. |

Keli13,
I too agree. Many people take things to the extreme and it effects others that use it properly. |

I think some people probably become addicted to HQ use- they see the results and want more,no matter how it affects their health.
I'm curious how others use it- Keli13, do you use it as a spot treatment or an all-over deal? |

I used it all over but I had large areas of discoloration more like age blotches not age spots. I got them from the sun and tanning in my younger years. I used 4% Hydroquinone twice a day all over my face along with Renova at night after the Hydroquinone. My pigmentation was gone in three months. Now I just use Renova and good sunscreen. If my discoloration ever comes back I hope Hydroquinone is still available because it's the only product that worked for me. |
