I am addicted to buying perfumes and scents of all types. From the very expensive, boutique and cheap. I use bath gels, salts, dusting powder, etc.
To my chagrin; it does not seem to matter what I use or how much- it just does not stay with me Mad

Anyone else with this problem? On the bright side, after a night of smoking or such, that also doesn't stick with me as it does my friends...

Well... there is such a thing as becoming desensitized to any scent. I think it's how I end up cooking with a bulb of garlic instead of a clove or 2. It's how a person can live in a house with cats they don't clean up after... you don't know if you've stepped into a urinal or a meth. house.

I remember a sub. teacher we often had in the 6th and 7th grade. This woman apparently LOVED rose scented perfume. It was winter. She was gagging the class. We didn't want to hurt her feelings, so as a class we agreed to dress really, really warm, and open the windows the second we walked into class. We professed the entire day that we were hot!

Back in my recruiter days, I had to counsel a new college graduate that he was losing job prospectives because his cologne was preventing his interviews from lasting much longer than 5 minutes. It's really hard to tell someone that basically they stink. Even if it WAS a pleasant smell. Even when he swore he did not use ANY cologne, he still smelled of it to an extreme. His clothes were impregnated with the scent. HE COULD NOT SMELL IT! I got nothing but dirty looks from our entire staff for having him in the office so long!

I'm willing to bet the problem has more to do with a lack of smell, and being accustom to a specific scent. Find a friend, ask them to be honest... Or a coworker... Is my perfume too strong, because I can't smell it, and I don't want to gag anyone?

Perfumes should only be detectable within your personal space, not across the building.

If they can't smell it. It may be that it fades. Touch up the pulse points.

However, I don't find fragrance appropriate in a busy crowded work environment, or in a fine dining environment... or for a tasting of ANYTHING, but to me especially wine.

Thank you for the considered reply. However, I can assure you that friends, colleagues, and dinning partners CANNOT smell scent on me either. I have many different scents. None last more than a half hour.. Must be my chemistry

I have to attend this seminar at work about no perfume at the workplace. My co-worker already attended and they won't even allow scented deodorant and hair products! I stopped wearing perfume but I love the strong scented lotions from Lolia.

That seems overly strict. How do they enforce that? Ummmm... Can I smell your armpit? yeah, I thought so. Go home, no pay.

Alien that is wild. It would be an interesting experiment to be around someone who is sensitive to fragrance and see if they notice. I guess, you're just going to have to re-apply.

I really don't know! I have coworkers who are fun and wear amazing scents to work. I really feel bad for them, because they don't overdo it, but someone will be a bitch and report it. I am not getting involved with that! That's for sure.

Do you layer? Meaning use the same scent shower gel, then body lotion, powder, then perfume? (That is extreme layering, but I wanted to make sure you understood my question!)

Claudia I hope you don't mind I'm going to use your post for class discussion (I teach professional grooming for employability at university - besides other modules). It's very well said and with good examples, I couldn't say it better!

OMG!! I'm so addicted to perfumes!!! Shock

My favourites:
- Lolita Lempicka EDP (that very first fragrance)
- Hugo Boss Deep Red
- Hermes Kelly Caleche EDP (yes ladies! there's a edp version)
- Chanel Coco Mademoiselle EDP
- Versace Crystal Noir (Hmm....I think it's not my fav. anymore)

Wouldn't banning deodorant and hair products be counter-productive? I would far rather smell a whiff of deo and shampoo than sweaty armpits and unwashed hair.

I love fragrance and would hate to be prevented from wearing it.
