Hi. I'm a 39 year old male and about 20 years ago I saw some very light bumps central and under both eyes. After being prescribed many topicals by general doctors, I went to the health food store and acidophilus was suggested due to having made comment about innumerable ear infections as a child and that the antibiotics had conceivably wiped out my own internal immunities. The theory was that yeast had built up inside of my intestinal tract in excess. Sure enough what had lightly mystified me for 3 years was gone in a day after using some billion variety of acidophilus. It would return every 5 years or so and yet again, mostly noticeable to just me. Acidophilus worked each time. Last summer something changed though and partly we'll call it getting older right? Laughing It came back but a more pronounced and afflicting variety. No real new pattern less being just below the eyebrow and kind of varied sized bumps and again, without just one kind of shape but various. So I hit the healthfood store and tried the strongest acidophilus on the market without success. It would tackle it somewhat but clearly it became futile. Another general physician decided we might try a low level steroid cream and of course it came with all of the usual precautions. Well this seemed to do the trick but never quite knocked it out. I would also like to mention that certain foods like caffeine, yogurt, oatmeal (yogurt & oatmeal items especially), along with some other dairy seemed to make it worse. Which sucked because I love those foods. Not in excess but now and then. Well its worse than ever and the latest development is that there redness across the area btwn my eyebrows or bridge of nose and just lightly alongside my nose and just below the nostril openings. There's also a tad of what almost looks like acne on the upper right cheekbone. The steroid cream has had its day and I've used a ton of it over the past year and recently an optometrist has suggested that this may have caused some loss of vision as it creates pressure on the cornea (didn't know that til now!). I went back to the general physician a few days ago and he made comment that it was probably a fungus related issue and recommended that we fight it through the blood stream with some kind of antibiotic along with over the counter Lomotrin Ultra. Well the pill is for 7 days and I'm on my 3rd day of treatment and I know I should be patient but I'm having some doubts. I'm not sure if I should pursue a dermatologist because frankly many in the phonebook or online seem much more geared towards cosmetic enhancement than they seem "skin doctors" you know? Am I alone here or can someone out there make some suggestions? Its really bringing me down and I feel like I'm a beast. Thank you anyone who feels me or hears me on this.

Can you post a picture of what you are talking about. I think a picture would be helpful in trying to understand what you are experiencing.

I would definitely see a dermatologist. Even though they may seem geared towards cosmetic stuff, they are the ones who know the skin.
