I did a quick search but will post this - in case different areas of the face need different treatments.
My friend says ever since she had her middle child - she has had a dark upper lip (skin between nose and lip). Of course its not THAT bad to me - but its driving her crazy. She bleaches her lip hair in order to I guess try and bleach the skin (?) - I just notice the white hairs.
Anyway - what kind of treatments could work for her? She doesnt have teh $ to go to a doctor. Would light treatments - like the pretika (which I have) work??

Sounds like your friend has melasma brought on by her pregnancy. If it were me I would use Obagi Clear twice a day. It's a 4% Hydroquinone product. The same strength a dermatologist would give her except she can buy it online and not have to see a derm for a prescription. I would apply it as the very first product on my face after cleansing morning and night. Afterwards she can apply her regular skin care over top. It would also be extremely important for her to be using a good sunscreen. Her condition won't get better unless she protects her skin from the sun which will make the darkness worse the more time she spends in it. Even incidental exposure like driving can make it worse or at least make it not get any better. She also will need to be consistent when applying the Clear and not skip days or nights if she wants to clear her discoloration up. It should hopefully clear up between 2 to 4 months. |
