I have been stressing out to make my skin quality better that i am breaking out even more. I went to the doctor and he prescribed me Retin-A and also an antibiotic to heal it inside out. The retin A is making me peel and very very dry and my skin is so sensitive to touch and breaking out even more. My question is can i put a moisturizer on the top of retin A and is it normal? when will the peeling stop? I use AHA and BHA exfoliator before applying retin A.

Since i am not using any moisturizer on my skin over retin A i am noticing lines under my left eye. What is a good cream for eye wrinkles? That works but is not overly expensive [Sad]

I have break out prone normal-dry skin.

DO NOT use any other AHA or BHA when using the Retin-A, you are asking for big trouble so STOP and call your doc and let him know that you used those products. I would wait a week before using the Retin-A. The Retin-A will make you break out more in the begining, it brings all the gunk out, yeah I know it sucks. Your doc should have told you that. It can take a couple of months before things calm down and start getting better. Some people can't tolerate the Retin-A. You might want to give your doc a call, or ask the pharmacist about what type of creams would be ok to use with the Retin-A. Do not go out in the sun without some type of sunscreen while using Retin-A or taking antibotics. PLEASE call your doc. You don't want to end up with an unnessary mess on your hands.

I had a similar reaction from retin a when the derm gave it to me. I didn't use any other aha or bha's with it. The stuff made my skin peel like a peel off mask. The stuff was EVIL on my skin, and my skin is now super super sensitive since then.

I hope your skin is ok, start moisturizing like crazy and stop the retin-a for a bit...call the derm too. Why didn't they tell you not to use other stuff with it?? grr...stupid doctors

Hello. Let me give you some advice on retin-a... the secret is to start out using a small percentage (a couple times per week), then increasing your percentage and frequency of use gradually. When used in that way, your skin gets used to it "in a friendly way" and you won't get all the irritation... The doctor I goto recommends using a glycolic in the morning to get off all the dead skin from the retin a. Now that's a lot of peeling- ouch! Shock
