Good blog Antonia. Actually pulling at the skin isn't something that I think I agree with you on 100%, as sometimes doing gentle stretches around the skin I feel destressed it of tension, and if you have been frowning or focusing a lot during the day, it helps to stretch that area somewhat to allow the skin to revert back to its former self, but its like most things if done in excess its of course bad for you.
Its great to see you recommending facial exercises! They really are so powerful in conjunction with good diet and healthy lifestyles! |

Hi Sean,
Perhaps I'll start pulling at the skin again
Someone (who arrived from this forum) accused me of Photoshopping that image. Just for fun, I gave it to my buddy, who actually does magazine covers, and she PS-ed it to death. (I posted it along with the original.) I can PS myself to remove zits or whatever but nothing to the extent she has done.
I am a firm believer in facial exercise. Not only does it alter the underpinnings, but I'm sure makes the skin glow too. |

Antonia, you have beautiful skin and look way younger. Have you tried a lot of other skin care lines or have you primarily used skin actives? I really want to try this line now. |

Leggy, gosh. I have not had a very good experience with Retin-A. It dries and reddens my skin, even at 25%. So I'm not really the one to ask.
Cookie, I have always believed that a VARIED DIET applies to the outside as well as the inside. It makes sense. So I have provided my skin with lots of different products that are high in actives. So, over the past, say, 10 years, I have used Remergent, copper peptides from SkinBiology, and a blending of actives (52% or more) from a lady on eBay. Before becoming totally obsessed in the past few years, I have generally used products sent to me for articles from Vichy, Neostrata, Juice Beauty, etc.
Since losing the eye wrinkles, I have stuck with the SA I-B and the ISCYC around the eyes and the other SA products mentioned. One day a week I use Shea Terra's Rose Petal and Redbush cream. I'm very happy with this routine, which provides a lot of external nutrition.
I am going to switch the SA Anti-Aging Cream to Korres Quercetin and Oak Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream for a bit, and use the Mitochondrial Boost for day. I want to cut down on my exposure to parabens.

Leggy, I forgot to say how pleased I am that you are seeing a difference. I didn't see any difference for a while and had given up looking for it. Lol. Maybe that old saying that watched pots never boil is true (and unwatched pots suddenly boil furiously when you're not expecting them to). |

Hello Sigma,
Really? You should have seen me at 4:00 this morning, taking the pup out to the bathroom. Gorgeous I was not and still am not at 1:50 pm. Lol! Thanks though.
Bio Oil is very popular in Europe. It contains a carrier oil called PurCellin, which apparently helps drive the actives into the skin. Friends of mine swear by it. Here's the info from the Bio Oil website:
Vitamin A
Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate on the label) helps improve the skin’s elasticity, texture and tone.
Vitamin E
The most widely used antioxidant in skincare products today, Vitamin E increases the moisture content of the epidermis, making the skin softer, smoother and more supple. Vitamin E also assists in the proliferation and maintenance of healthy skin.
Calendula oil
Calendula Officinalis, more commonly referred to as marigold, has been used for centuries as a natural antioxidant and has the ability to clarify and condition the skin, while providing soothing and calming benefits for sensitive skin types.
Lavender oil
Lavender oil is well known for its skin conditioning properties, and is also effective in calming and soothing the skin.
Rosemary oil
Rosemary oil helps to invigorate and condition the skin, and has calming and soothing properties.
Chamomile oil
Chamomile has a calming and soothing effect and is particularly beneficial for sensitive skin. It also helps to condition and clarify the skin, assisting to maintain its natural health.
PurCellin Oil™
PurCellin Oil™ acts as a delivery system for Bio-Oil’s other ingredients, dramatically improving its application and spreadability, and allowing for targeted absorption into the skin.

You do look gorgeous - and very young. I am younger and could only wish to look half as good as you are.
Thanks for sharing! |

Thank you very much for the compliment. I make a passion out of it as it takes so darned long. The cream applications, the exercise, the dry brushing, the suctioning, the light-application. Then there's the expense of everything including injectables from time to time in the NL folds and forehead bumps. lol...and the nose job and other past "jobs," the shapewear and gawd-knows-what. Kassy has a cool attitude about all this. I wish I had it too. I sometimes think I am afraid to look my age and that is very sad. |

Great blog Antonia! Your skin is beautiful! I wanted to know where do you purchase your MSM from and what kind do you use (powder, crystal, etc.)? Also, how do you keep your lips looking so young! I am younger than you and I am fighting lines above my lips! Do you have any suggestions? Thanks! |

Hello Star...I use Webber Naturals 1000mg capsules (just one a day). My lips are just mine with a honey & Matrixyl balm that I bought from a lady on eBay. If you look closely, you can see a little line under my nose. That's where I had a lip lift three months ago. The object was to reduce the labial ledge from 18mm to 15mm so that I could reveal my upper teeth when talking.(I've been self-conscious over this for ever...) The surgeon took out 3mm but the result has so far been the same. The distance between my nose and lip (the labial ledge) is 18mm still. This could be hard swelling and I hope it is, rather than the lip dragging itself down again. The operation usually results in the upper lip curling up a little as well (although I didn't want mine to) and so far it hasn't. A lip lift unfortunately doesn't get rid of lines.
I also do Ageless' lip curl exercise to try to shorten the labial ledge. I don't have fillers in the lips as they always look stiff to me. |

Hi Rileygirl. I'm not sure if she is still selling. I can't recall her name but I'll go through my emails tomorrow and see if I can find her. |

Her ID is Cara-Lisa but she isn't selling any more. Her last f/b was in June 2008. You could contact her though.(She gave the balm as a freebie if you bought on of her formulations.) I think any balm will smooth the lips and keep them moisturised. I don't bother with the plumping stuff as it doesn't work for me. |

Thanks, Antonia. I am the same way with the plumping stuff. It doesn't work for me, either! T |

I bought the bio oil at Walgreens a long time ago. I am trying to even up the skin tone on my arms, as I have white scars on both forearms from puppy claws and teeth. These are old scars, so I am not sure if the bio oil will work or not. I tried in several months ago, but only gave it a few weeks before I gave up. I am really bad at taking care of the skin on my body.
This is what I found on the bio oil site regarding the Purcellin oil.
PurCellin Oil™
PurCellin Oil™ is a laboratory recreation of the preen gland oil of ducks. During preening, a duck secretes oil from its preen gland and distributes it over its entire plumage in the familiar twisted-neck action that one often associates with ducks. This oil creates a thin, non-greasy layer on the surface of the feathers without which water would not pearl off and the bird would struggle to swim.
Water birds, which inspired the development of PurCellin Oil™, have been repaid the favor...
The National Wildlife Health Foundation’s recommended method for the rapid restoration of oil-soiled water birds is based on PurCellin Oil™. |

How lovely! That makes it all the better IMO. Companies that "give back" are just great. |

The cheapest easiest beauty tip of all to keep young skin is to keep your face out of the sun period. Sunscreen does NOT give good enough protection...must be applied every 2 hrs and the ingredients in sunscreen are not always good for you.So justkeep your face out of the sun. |

Mexoryl doesn't break down after two hours. The sun didn't cause my wrinkles. I use ss even before I go down for my cuppa in the am. UV light never touches my face. That said, the sun is responsible for 80 percent of aging. |

Speaking of Mexoryl, is it available in the US now? |

Anthelios was available at CVS for a while, but not when I searched there a month ago. The manager said whether a particular store carries something depends on how much demand there is locally. However, I live in CA so I'm surprised demand wouldn't be high... |
