Would it be a good idea if all forum members who distribute products put a post saying who they are and what they sell on a sticky post? Then anyone wanting info from them knows to email/pm them directly and not ask for help on the threads.
So Ian S could have a JB thread, Judy could have a ES, sassyred an epidermx and so on. That way distributers won't feel they are breaking any rules and other members can discuss the relative merits or otherwise of products on offer.
What does everyone else think?

I think you are a genius. It does seem to be getting a bit heavy on some threads. People are starting to be afraid of saying they love something for fear of being accused of working for the company.
Will your idea make everything be light and fluffy again. Cos thats what I like.
I can stress at home and work if I want it.
I like to escape when I am on EDS. |

"Sticky Posts". I am tired of SPAM, people promoting their businesses, and ...
EMAILING OUR CUSTOMERS PRIVATELY, UNSOLICITED!!! (you know who you are, and I learn that this has happened again, you will not be welcome here.) |

I certainly wouldn't want CaspersMum's or Mabsy's job controlling everything that goes on in the forum. If everyone just follows the forum rules it can be quite easy to keep this awesome forum a wonderful place. |

I think its a great idea but I would still expect and want them to jump in on threads that they know something about. I agree about keeping it light, EDS is like a girlfriend who's always available to talk...everyone is so helpful and empathetic...and funny. Some days, its just what I need! |

Oh dear, yes I am a gal!!!....I was talking about my Furr-baby Gucci who is a boy!...
I'm afraid at work yesterday lunch I hit my head on a thick hanging glass sign that is hung above my desk. I thought I'd knocked myself out, its really dangerous. You should see the lump I have on my forehead, and its cut!!! Soooo sore! Anyway after some nurofen yesterday I had a few brandy's last night!
I dont even remember replying to this!
Needless to say its been put in the accident book, they said, just in case anything happens!!! |

and here I thought that by starting my catch-up with the Lounge section I was going to have it easy! Personally I would like to stay away from a segregation of "you can post this here but you can't post this here". Distributors are welcome to participate in all discussions but should not push their own products. People should not have anything to worry about when they post a good review of a product, unless they ARE a distributor.
The other thing that I would be concerned with would be that (a) "good" distributors will stick to the "designated" threads but others will still spam regardless, and (b) soon so many distributors will want to join and have their own thread that we'll start complaining about them anyway. How do you then justify giving a thread to one distributor and not to another?
Anyway, this is just my jet-lagged $0.02 and I shall chat to Magda about this later in the week. |
