I have mostly MAC brushes and I am happy with all of them. I recently purchased a Smashbox crease defining brush and it's also excellent.
Just wondering what brushes you ladies like to use. Do you have a favorite brush that stands out?
I love my MAC 219 brush as well. |

| I have a mix of Mac, Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier. I use the Mac foundation brush most so its probably my favourite. |

I have a mix.
These are my favourites:
NARS botan and yachiyo
MAC 224, 182, 165, 138, 174, 227
Versace powder brush
Shiseido powder brush
Smashbox #19 face and body brush |

I love my Smashbox brushes and some others I got from ebay. Bourjois makes nice ones too.
Even though, I have more than 40 makeup brushes I still want to get the MAC 224 brush. Lots of people rave about it. |

Of course, the best makeup brush that I have ever known is the MAC 187.
But besides, Bobbi Brown brushes are good to be used, too.
Good brushes could help us to save a lot of time, and give us a better look. |

| I have an A'Squirrel brush too, but mine is goat, not the squirrel one, so not as special. My Shiseido power brush is squirrel and it is the softest brush in the world. If I didn't already have so many brushes, I would definitely get more of the A'Squirrel ones, because they are very good value for the quality. |

| I was using Lumiere brushes for the past year or so. (great price on a pre-sale a while back) They are nice brushes but start to get a little rough and out of shape after a year of washing. Just recently someone on EDS (Sorry I forgot who) recommended Alima #25. I decided to try it and WOW what a difference. This brush is awesome. $25 and well worth it. |

But actually, I do think that "soft" is not the requirement for brushes, because each brush has its own function. There are a lot of brushes I think can not be soft, just like foundation brush, eye brush, mineral face powder brush, etc.
Of course, cheek color brush should be soft anyway. |

I think alima 25# is just suitable for mineral powder foundation.
Actually I do not like brushes with synthetic hair. |

For a big blusher brush, I love Valerie Beverly Hills large kabuki brush. I was lucky enough to get mine fee with another purchase.  |

Sorry I have never heard of Valerie Beverly Hills before. Would you please tell me if this is a makeup brand or a professional brush brand? |

| I have mostly MAC brushes with a smattering of Smashbox, Laura Mercier and Quo. But MAC is my favourite and I have had some of them for almost 10 years - well worth their price. You should make sure though that if you are buying these brushes (and any of the higher end brushes) you should be willing to take care of them. These are an investment to your beauty routine. A friend of mine has a set of brushes and I cringe at them as she hasn't cleaned them since they were purchased. Not only is there bacteria just growing in there but they are losing their shape and therefore her makeup isn't going on as smooth. All it takes is a little baby shampoo and these brushes could last her years rather than barely one. |

You are absolutely right! Brushes must be clean, otherwise it could not work well either. But I do not advise people to buy MAC small set brushes, because their qualities are not as good as long single brush. |

Yes, I agree with you. I tend to judge a quality of the brand that makes the brushes based on how soft they can make their powder brushes. Same goes for mineral makeup kabuki brushes - they have to be very dense but the hair should be soft (i.e. not scratchy).

| I really like my MAC brushes and use them daily although I have several other brands. My all time favorite is the one for eyeliner. I can't live without this one. It's always perfect for making lines and for eyebrows. For cheaper brands I don't mind using Sonia Kashuk from Target. |

| To answer the question about cleaning, I find that by having dedicated brushes for certain products, eg, blushes or bronzers with shimmer and without shimmer, I don't have to clean as often. But they still get washed every couple of weeks. Redken AllSoft shampoo is brilliant for that. Make sure you lay them out flat to dry when you wash them so water doesn't get down the ferrule and weaken the glue. |
