I'm glad the dog is recovering. Honey has antibiotic properties. I'm not sure if it would be my first line of defense against infection, but how wonderful that it is working for the dog. |

Vets and wildlife carers here in Australia often use honey to treat injured animals. After the terrible fires here in February large amounts of honey were used on the wildlife burn victims. Not just any honey though, it's special medicinal honey. |

I use Manuka honey exclusivly. A teaspoon a day either in tea or straight. And yes, I do use it topicaly.
Honey is bacteriostatic-bacteria can't live in it. It has been the burn treatment of choice in japan. I do use it topicaly on wounds for patients that can't tolerate other statins. |

Alien,
you seem to know quite a bit about this, I read one article that claimed Manuka Honey is great for Ulcerative Colitis. One of 4 now grown kids has been diagnosed with this since he was 17, I was wondering if you knew about this claim, and your opinion?
TIA
