The description of this product sure pushs the right buttons! Too bad the ingredients aren't listed. |

Riley, I really don't know enough about ingredients to formulate any opinion about a product based on the ingredient's list! But I will make a couple of coments from what I have found.
Marta is correct; there is very little scientific research that secale cereale (Rye) seed extract firms and lifts the skin. As it is high on the ingredients list, I think there should have some evidence that it does this? Perhaps it functions similar to the more commonly used oat kernel extract (which is also listed on the ingredients). I didn't see anything on PubMed for arabinoxylans related to skincare studies either. The most popular skincare products containing rye seed extract are made by Korres; this ingredient is also included in Strivectin products I believe.
What caught my eye on the ingredients list was tripeptide-1. Most of the time this ingredient is GHK-Cu ... what we commonly called copper peptides. There is also Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) much further down the list as well as disodium EDTA. I am still trying to figure out how these three ingredients work together in this product. Mind you, it is possible that the tripeptide-1 is not a copper peptide but rather a different one. I am still searching for answers! I managed to find this article, but it doesn't really help me understand much:

I'm not sure this post is of any help to you Riley! LOL |

Thanks, Lacy. I would guess that it is the rye that is supposed to do the majority of the work in this product as it is 4th on the list? (I can't see the ascorbic acid having much effect at all that low on the list.) I think you are correct that the tripeptide-1 is GHK (at least that is the INCI name for GHK!).
I can't see arabinoxylans on the list, or am I missing something?
Anything jumping out at you that would be no good for the skin? (I am having flashbacks to Skincerity!! and trying to avoid rash purchases!) |
