Hi All
Hope someone can help me out on this one, I'm alittle confused
I have decided to try retin-a micro 0.04% and found it at inhouse pharmacy (have bought from them before and had no problems) But... WOW $110.00
So.. I decide to look into all day chemist (have read a few members mention ADC) and WOW $3.70 for 15 gm
I don't get it, it doesn't seem possible, could they both be the same quality : |

Sadly LAT they more than likely are. I have purchased retin-a from Mexico (friend was on holiday) and was shocked when she brought me back the exact same tube for a 1/4 of the price.
Have a look around because there are threads about buying from all day chemist and other off shore pharmacy, I think most people have had good success. |

One should be cautious: Some of the supply the Mexican and overseas markets get their hands on are batches recalled, expired, contaminated. I still hold to the old axiom: if it seems too good to be true-it is |

I've purchased Retin-A from Medsmex in the past and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it - Medsmex is a US company I believe.
I'm in Australia and Retin-A is sold here for under AUD$30.00. Why it is so expensive in the US, I have absolutely no idea - must be something to do with Big Pharma. Anyway, lots of Forum members in the US purchase from online pharmacies and the products are fine - the only problem is the amount of spam you are sent after you've purchased. |

Is there actually any evidence that offshore pharmacies are selling expired or contaminated products? Or is that just an internet rumor? I haven't seen any credible evidence myself--links would be helpful.
What I do know is that offshore pharmacies typically sell generic versions of pharmaceuticals, often with somewhat different base ingredients. In the US patented prescription drugs are priced much higher by the big pharmaceutical corporations than they charge in other countries for the identical products. They do it because they can--prices for drugs are completely unregulated, so monopolists with patents can charge whatever they think the market will bear. And they do.
I have no qualms at all buying non-US made drugs when I am abroad. (In fact, my oncologist even recommended I do so when I had an expensive prescription to fill some years back. I saved literally thousands of dollars on that one.) |

Same in Canada..Retina-A was about $18 a couple of years ago and Revova was selling for $40. I don't get it. |

It has been in the news in the past that certain meds being purchased from outside of the US were not ok (either expire or fake) but I don't think its common. I have not heard any stories recently. Many of our generic drugs are made overseas anyway. Personally I'm not concerned about buying topicals from these sites but would never buy oral meds. |

I have purchased retin-a from inhouse pharmacy in the past and was happy with the product but I would like to try the retin-a micro and it's alot more expensive then the regular retin-a. I thought I would look around at other on-line pharmacies and was shocked at how much cheaper the retin-a micro is at all day chemist. This is what concernes me the most:
Inhouse pharmacy
Retin-a micro 0.04%
Manufacturer: Johnson and Johnson
All Day Chemist
Retin-a micro 0.04%
Manufacturer: Dr. Reddy
Who the H__L is Doctor Reddy |

Just another drug company, they may make meds that they sell to the US also.

There's nothing much about the US health system that makes much sense - there have been posts on the Forum in the past where people have had their insurance company refuse to fund the Retin-A, even though it was prescribed by a US doctor.
Also, a note on generic medications. Price is not an indication on efficacy. Generic meds contain the same ingredients as the brand name ones. How it works is that a company will develop a drug, the company will take out a patent on that drug and be given x amount of time to solely manufacture it to recoup R&D costs. When the patent expires, other drug companies are also able to manufacture the drug - and sell it at a cheaper price. In Australia, we currently have a TV advertising campaign encouraging people to buy generic meds and to reassure them of their safety etc. |

For what it is worth the exact time the US government gives exclusive rights to the originating drug company is 17 years!
A very long time to have to recoup R&D for producing the drug.
IMHO

I've also bought retin a from ADC and it's been fine. As someone said, many of the drugs are manufactured overseas, same with cosmetics. Previously it was China and now I believe India is building up its manufacturing industry. |

There is another overseas supplier I purchased Lumigan from, they sell brand name and generic. I had no issues with my purchase and no spam emails at all.

I will have a look into this site, I dont want anymore spam, not that I can prove it comes from a particular site. |

Hi Keliu
Where do you purchase Retin-A in Australia - do you need a prescription or is it over the counter? |

Yes, you have to have a prescription - but that's not a hassle here and saves me the worry of spam and credit card fraud. |

In Croatia I didn't have to get prescription - I ordered it in one private pharmacy - wait for 10 days and payed about 16$ for a 20 g of Retin A from Janssen-Cilag Germany.
For me it is not so expensive at all. Prescription or not - it wouldn't be any difference in price with our health insurance bloody security system. |

So what I can gather is no one has had a problem with ADC except for the spam |

Well I have only ordered from ADC once, but I haven't noticed any spam. I get loads at work - and I have for ages - but I gave my home email address, so that can't be as a result of buying from them. |
