Chocolate and coffee are two of my passions so I'm always trying to combine them. The very best chocolate coffee I've ever had is Godiva Chocolate Crème Coffee. |

My favourite things too , but I've never heard of Godiva coffee.
I'll have a look around and see if we have it here. |

Mishey,
I can't get the coffee at my local Godiva store. They said I have to order it online. I'd never have known about it if someone hadn't sent it to me as a gift.
Riley,
You have any other chocolate-coffee combinations I should know about? |

Not off the top of my head, Skippie. I found a few of Barnies Coffee that I like, but I could not tell you the names. I usually get some chocolate coffee from my family every Christmas, so we'll see what they deliver this year! |

Hi Gals,
A few sites to peek at and some info as to why this delicious combo may be very good for us!

Stumped at the café? Go for a mocha.
According to new research, the tasty beverage provides a double-whammy of health benefits: chocolate may slow cancer growth, and java could help you live longer. The good news about chocolate comes from scientists at Georgetown University Medical Center, who found that a synthetic chemical that is similar to a compound present in cocoa beans slows the growth of colon cancer by 50 percent. Not only did it retard growth, it damaged most of the colon cancer cells. The compound, known as GECGC, is most effective at impeding those cancer cells that usually grow at frighteningly-quick rates; promising, given that they are also often the most deadly.

Science, chocolate, coffee, colon cancer, Holly Otterbein, medicineThe research on coffee, which appeared in Annals of Internal Medicine, showed that coffee drinkers live longer than their abstaining peers. After accounting for the fact that joe-fiends are also relatively hedonistic (they drink more booze, smoke more cigarettes and exercise less) scientists found they actually lived slightly longer than people who didn’t slam down a few cups of coffee each day. But that doesn’t mean sipping on a triple-shot mocha latte will give you a triple-digit birthday: high-calorie, high-sugar drinks are still bad for you. Then again, future research may very well prove otherwise.
ENJOY

If chocolate & coffee is your favorite flavor than you would love Tiramisu' dessert. |

You are welcome Riley!
I thought the info that the combo is actually good for us might take away some of the guilt from this luxurious indulgence!
I adore both goodies too!

Skippie,
I am for anything that justifies a few hedonistic luxuries! The study is real so drink up chocolate and all.

While on the topic of coffee, I am on the lookout for a new coffee pot. My cuisinart one died and I am just using a cheapie to get me by. Any recommendations for a good coffee pot? |

I have a Melitta Mill & Brew Coffeemaker (not the Smart model which has bad reviews on Amazon), Riley, which I love. It grinds the beans before making the coffee, but you can also use ground coffee in it. I think Cuisinart also has a version of this. |

Thanks, Skippie. Does it seem to be long lasting or maybe I should ask how long you have had it for? |

I've had it probably three years. I haven't had any issues with it, but I can see where people might if they didn't treat it gently. For example, the filter has to be put in just right or the lid won't close. I can see where someone might break parts by trying to force the lid to close. |

Oh Wow DM. You just reminded me. I did the same thing with Gevalia and have had a brand new pot sitting in my cabinet for years now. I never even opened the box, because I got a new one for Christmas about the same time. I wonder if it's the same one you have. If so, 8 years is awesome for it to last that long. Gotta go check it out and see what I've got. |

Mine is not glass it had color choices with the silver inside just like old fashioned thermos.
