O.k., I admit it. I have no idea what the misting products are for...skincare-wise. I've been misting with Evian spray after I finish my makeup because someone once told me that it helps set makeup. But with the variety of products I've seen on the EDS website, I figure there's more to it so I have to plead ignorance. So please enlighten me. Thanks |

Nanapost,
I must admit that I don't mist either. With the winter coming and cold New England weather I plan to start. What misting does is keeps you face hydrated. Dry heat, burning fires and the cold can dry out our skin. Evian I have heard is pretty good. I think Mabsy mentioned that at one time. Getting a mist is on my list. Personally, I think its a good idea. Where you seem to have dry skin it might be helpful to carry one in your purse and mist a few times during the day. Now, will I go out and buy an expensive one I need to hear more from those who do mist and what they do and suggest.

Some of the misting products have nourishing ingredients like grapeseed extract, etc. So, besides hydration, they nourish the skin. I think I posted the ingredients to the Jane Iredale mist that I've been using in another thread here on the forum. Actually a pretty impressive set of ingredients.

It sounds great but how come if you lick your lips, they get drier but misting your face makes it better hydrated? This forum is great...I get to ask all my dumb questions in relative anonymity. |

It must be 'cause I am still out of bed at 1.20 am.. but my first thought was, well maybe if I misted with saliva my face would dry out too Then I had an ewww moment and settled down.
Evian mists are nice, but really, for the price you can just as easy grab a small pump bottle and add a bit of evian (or your chosen love) water.
I have tried a ton of mists:
1. Evian water mist
2. Evian water in a pump
3. Evian water with essential oils in a pump
A home brew of distilled water, witch hazel, lavender oil.. and..um.. something else
4. Aesop mist (ooh, this is nice)
5. Thalgo (very long name) - way to perfumed
6. La Mer "The Mist" - nice, but not for the $$$
When I do my EDS order at the end of the month I think I will try the Decleor one, but I am also tossing up on the Rosa Y Fruta either Champagne Toner or Rose Luster.
In winter, in the dry, hot air of an office (or stuck in an aircraft cabin), it is the most wonderful feeling to mist with a product with some essential oils or other goodies in it. |

I was dragged kicking & screaming into the bodyshop yesterday by my lovely teen.
They had a vit C spray and a vit E spray. Both were quite nice. However I resisted temptation . Only because I have ordered the JI mist and I need to try the Spanish fly thanks to Winnie. LOL |

OK, darn you lot! Now I am over looking at the JI page here...
which is the one you are raving about? Balance Antioxidant hydrosol or the D2O Hydration Mist (oh, another "heavy water" mist).
Um, and I hate to ask, but... Spanish Fly???!!
oh, and you know, ALL water is heavy! Just try carrying a few gallons of it and see for yourself |

I use the JI D20, but only because that happens to be the one that was suggested to me when I bought the JI loose powder. I didn't use a mist before that.
I will say that the D20 has lots of wonderful extracts like grapeseed extract, olive leaf extract, etc.... beside just the water.
Love your comment about heavy water!

Hi Judy,
Yea, "heavy" thoughts like that always pop into my head at 1am.
Anyway, I like the sound of the ingredients in the JI too - my skin is already dying here and the weather is not even cold yet (but the heating systems have been turned on. go figure)
Hmm.. wonder if I can add a JI one in there too.. the price is not too bad.. that will give me 3 new mists - Decleor, Rosa Y Fruta Champagne toner mist, and the JI one! 2 for the office and one for home! That is a good rationale, no? |

In my book, any rationale that works is a good one!

I am currently using the Thalgo Reviving Marine Mist - I actually like it so much that I remember to use it regularly. It's just as refreshing as the Evian but it actually does have something extra in it that is moisturising. Nanapost - yours is an interesting question. I have been told that contrary to popular belief spraying your face with Evian on the plane does more harm than good because it is pure water and it evaporates. So they recommend sprays with moisturising ingredients in them. I wish I had the Thalgo on the plane with me - my skin looks terrible after a long flight. I still don't understand how people get off international flights looking decent.... |

Yeah, that's what I was traveling with - and Evian Mini The Thalgo spray is divine but also comes in a rather large spray bottle...
Guapagirl - yeah I'd tend to agree. First class is the way to go. Mind you the flight attendants all look way more decent than I do when they get off the plane Ah, wouldn't it be nice to have a job where you can write skincare off as a "work expense" on your tax return? |

Hey, waitaminute – I’m still waiting to hear about the Spanish Fly! Seriously, there’s a facial mist with SF as a primary ingredient, or is this simply some strange British humor that this poor, ignorant American just can’t comprehend?? Please elaborate and put me out of my misery! |

Carrie in Austin just woke up to the spanish fly discussion.
I'm not sure what thread that was in, but it was Winnie buying something with spanish fly in it from The Body Deli.
Hmmmm, come to think of it, we haven't seen Winnie on the forum much since she got that Body Deli order. Maybe she and Mr. Winnie are using the Body Deli order together.
OK, Winnie, better speak up and account for yourself.

Here I am Judy I chickened out!! I had my shopping cart full at the Body Deli and decided to get the Rose Garden for the mister. It is very lovely and hydrating. Next order I am going to ask for a couple of samples of Spanish Fly. I guess you can get up to 3 samples with your order. I just couldn't imagine spraying Spanish Fly on my face. Who the heck knows what I would attract. |
