It's been awhile since I posted here, but life goes on.
I don't know if this is posted elsewhere on this site, I searched, but found nothing. So if it's already here, forgive me.
I was reading about this tax earlier today and found a petition for opposing it. For those of you who think this tax for cosmetic procedures is just plant ridiculous, I'd suggest signing the petition.
Check it out for yourselves, think for yourselves and decide for yourselves.

Even though I live in OZ I am happy to go to bat for you all and sign away. I think additional taxes are just rediculous!!! |

Welcome to "Obama-World"!
I'll keep all of my hard earned money, property, and assets.... you can keep the "Change"!
2012 can't come fast enough in my opinion.

Not an American but this is what I read on the petition:
The U.S. Senate health care reform bill (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) contains a proposed 5 percent tax on "elective cosmetic medical procedures." While this may look like an attractive option to Senators looking for ways to pay for health care reform, we know that:
Cosmetic medical procedures taxes are an unreliable and risky revenue source, which has proved to be a failure at the state level;
A tax on cosmetic surgery discriminates against working women;
The definition of cosmetic procedures is arbitrary and almost impossible to administer; and
enforcement would necessitate review of patient medical records by tax collectors, a clear invasion of privacy.
Just wanted to say that is sounds like elective procedures only; to me this would include face lifts, injections such as botox etc BUT does not refer to cosmetic products. Perhaps I am mistaken?
Just to let you know, Canada has a Goods and Services tax as do many countries. We pay a tax on ALL services provided. That includes things like haircuts, plumbers, retail products ... you name it! There are a few exclusions but not many. It currently amounts to 5% of the price charged to the consumer. |

Ladies (and gentlemen),
I could not agree with you more.
I think if to look at all the hidden taxes we pay plus all the explicit taxes, we are the most taxed nation and getting very little in return. So sad. |
