Hi
A bit confused after reading so much around skin care about what to do.
In my late 20s. I used to have acne as a teen and now I'm left with a few ice pick scars. Also have a few recent brown chicken pox scars. Faint lines beginning to show under the eyes.I would like to start an anti aging regime and maybe even fix my scars if possible.
There's so much information out there but it seems key things are:
Sunscreen (but is this safe to use?!?)
Retin A
Vitamin C serum
Facial Exercises (are these safe?)
And then there are things like AHAs and Copper Peptides etc
Can anyone who has been on this board for some time tell me what the 'hit'/ 'holy grail' products were and are people still using them?
Obviously different things work for different people but I am curious to know what the most popular ones were.
I used to read this board many years ago and I remember there being a craze about hyaluronic acid. Does anyone still take it? What about IS Clinical products, they were pretty popular?
Thanks |

You've listed the holy grail items. Vitamin C, Retin A or a retinol product (since you are in your 20s, something over the counter may be best) and sunscreen. Yes, it is safe, better than risking skin damage and skin cancer! The trick is finding one you like and will consistently use.
If you have pigmentation or scaring, you can add a AHA product, best to rotate with your retinoids so you don't end up red and flakey.
If you are looking for specific brands, that varies from person to person. I make my own vitamin C serum usually, but have been known to try some purchased products (Mad Hippie, MyFawnie). Retin A is prescription or through the Indian pharmacies. Retinol has tons of brands, Avene is popular, as is Replenix (silicone heavy though).
I use Hyaluronic acid serum occassionally, don't take the pills. |
