i've been using the clinique 3 step system and it works really well for my skin. this moisturizer is perfect because it is smooth and light and absorbs quickly, but my face feels moisturized and not dry and tight all day |

Could you tell me what age you are and what skin type. Clinique does not get very good ratings on this forum so it is good to see someone who likes the line. I recently tried a sample of one of their other products and thought it was quite good despite all the negative feedback here. |

I have used some of their products and like some of them, the very gentle cleanser, repair wear creams. I think people generally have trouble with their toners, the ones for oily and combination skin, as they are quite strong and stripping, as is their soap for oilier skins. I think they have added more products for a wider range of skin types and problems over the years and have good sun screens. |

I feel the lotion is fine for summer use but not enough for the winter. |

I have tried this before. It's too greasy for me and does not really absorb into the skin. |

If find the moisturiser too oily. It's only good for people with the dry skin. |

Don't mention Clinique please, I'm so disappointed with this brand.
From the age of 18, when I did not know anything about protecting my skin, I started to use Clinique and Lancome. Anyway, until the age of 23, I felt that these two lines did nothing to my skin. 5 years, nothing changed, only the wrinkle became obvious.... |

Clinique has some good products and some not so good.
The original three step program with bar soap is probably too drying for most.
I do like the mild action toner (no number). It has no alcohol; fragrance. It does contain .5% bha and aloe. I usually buy two at GWP time. This toner is not promoted by the sales assistants; they usually promote the other ones (that contain alcohol)
I also like the Take the Day off cleansing balm. It is solid but melts into your skin (liquidy) and takes off waterproof sunscreen, makeup etc. I don't use it to take off eye makeup.
I keep the sample size tubes of the yellow dramatically different lotion. This is a basic moisturizer and I can even apply under eyes with no problems.
I also like the Repairwear eye cream. Moisturizes well. I recently bought Shisedo which was more money (with the hope it was better). I will go back to the Repairwear.
I also like some of the makeup such as the creamliners. I only buy at GWP times. |

You must be in your early twenties or even under 20. I like the "total turn around"(not sure if this is the name) when I was in my eraly twenties.

I haven't used any of their products since my early 20's.
I have a friend who is 75 and still using the basic 3 step program! Not a wrinkle in sight! Her mother lived to 94 and had smooth gorgeous skin!
GENITICS anyone??
Just thinking out loud! Some seem blessed
BTW my friend smoked from 16 until 3 years ago!

I actually like the yellow stuff.
I'm 38 and I have dry and sensitive skin.
The DDML feels soothing, sinks right in and leaves my skin very soft. I can even use it around my very sensitive eyes.
But for my skin type it's not moisturizing enough on its own.
I'm using the 3 step skin care with the liquid faical soap extra mild, mild clarifying lotion and then follow with DDML.
After applying DDML I always use an additional moisturizer. |

I agree with others here that the 3 step system is probably a bit out dated. So much is advanced in skin care in 1 year, let alone over 20 years since this system got started.
The new generation of Clinique products are great, such as Repair Wear and Moisture Surge.
Forget about soap and rubbing alcohol on the skin. They really do more damage than good! |

There is no "soap" in Clinique's liquid facial soap extra mild; there is no "rubbing alcohol" in the mild clarifying lotion. I see no problem with this 3-step routine, although I would suggest using a different moisturizer if the DDML isn't moisturizing enough (layering is fine too).

this is a blast from the past! i used this as a teenager, about 23 years ago. the line was simple and good for acne.
i used that dramatic something lotion, and back then they had a toner/astringent that had alcohol in it. i think it was effective (helped the little acne that i had)... oh and they had an acne spot treatment back then. i used the line cuz it was simple.. but it was not a wow.
i think you can find better IMHO |

Well all I can say is that I love the DDML and the whole 3 step skincare program.
As I've written before I use the liquid soap extra mild which is really mild. There aren't no surfactants in the extra mild version of the liquid soap.
And the mild clarifying lotion doesn't contain alcohol.
Then I follow with the DDML. And this stuff make my skin smooth like a baby's butt.
I really don't mind using an additional moisturizer after the DDML.
In the daytime I use even better moisturizer or superdefense.
My nighttime moisturizer is comfort on call; I sometimes use this in the winter as a day moisturizer when it's really cold and freezing. |

yup, years and years ago, i used a similar system with clinique. the bay department was close to home and clinique was quite trendy back then. it was geared to a younger client and had simple systems. i basically used everything including their spot treatment pens and make up. with the skincare routine, i noticed that it just burned layers off my face and then the lotion would seal it up again.
after many cycles of drying-flaking and healing, clinique did a hi-teck analysis for my face. the result was my skin way dehydrated and the cosmetician gave me a dirty look... i was thinking 'yah i use you whole line!' what the heck?!
after that i changed to lancome, then este lauder, and then went to shiseido. |
