I have dry and also acne-prone skin and am looking at trying either Dermalogica, Md Formulations or Murad ranges. I desperately want to clear u acne without drying up my skin and haven't had any luck with other products, am currently using Clinique 3 step. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |

I would stop using clinique!
Dermalogica would me my line out of those, very comprehensive range of products. Not tried Murad. |

Hi mailnat,
I agree with Eve ref. the clinique. Their make-up is ok but skincare has lots of nasty ingredients.
I would recommend MD Formulations with Glycolic Acid. GA is really good at getting rid of dead cells and cleaning out pores (ideal for acne prone skin - mine especially)
The cleanser is really good for acne prone skin, as is the facial cream. I also use their moisture defence hydrating cream when my skin is dryer, this contains no glycolic acid and will help with sensitivity.
The facial lotion is good also, but I find it too harsh to use every day. I use it once or twice a week as a treat. It also contain GA, so if you use it before the facial cream with GA you are getting "twice as much GA", which obviously can be too drying for sensitivie skin.
The moisture defense hydrating eye cream is my favourite too.
Also the vita-plus clearing complex mask is good for soothing and calming naughty skin.
I don't work for MD Formulations honest!! just love their products.
As for Dermalogica I like their ultra calming cleanser (for dry sensitive days) and their moisturising mask (can't remember the name). I found the range was not much good for my acne prone skin though. I tried the antic-bac skin wash and the active moist cream for a while but wasn't impressed, it seemed to break me out more often (lovely). I would, and do, use certain stuff from this range, but wouln't recommend it as your "main" skincare routine if you have some acne. Oh everyone raves about Dermalogica's daily microfoliant, I like this as an occasional (once weekly) scrub. It is supposed to be used everyday, but I found it aggrevated my skin (which is sensitive and acne prone) too much to use every day.
As for Murad, I haven't used it so can't comment.
Jan Marini has a good glycolic range too, at the moment I am trying the bioglycolic facial wash and it's as good as the MD Formulations glycolic wash. I haven't tried anything else from this range yet, but as it contains my holy grail (for now) - yes you've guessed it - Glycolic Acid, I'll be trying some more from this range soon (once the pennies have grown). |

Hi Mailnat, please see my reply to your other post here http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=3679&highlight=
Btw, I agree with Eve about the Clinique 3-step. I know that some people swear by it but for me it hasn't worked so well. Sure, my skin looks better in the first few weeks but it then starts looking dull and thinned out.
I also agree with Lady Jane about MDF products. They have worked really well for me in the past, getting rid of those annoying bumps under the skin. They are a tad drying though particularly if you already have dry skin. I would still suggest that you do a search for "Juvenil" here and read some of the reviews - this might give you an idea as to whether this is suitable for you or not. |

Md formulations is getting rave reviews! I'm a little hesitant though as I think it m,ight dry up or be too harsh on my skin as most acne-targeted products are. Is Glycolic acid quite a harsh ingrediant on dry/dehydrated skin? |

I have the same type of skin - ance-prone, normal/combo. I've tried MD Formulations, but I found its sister product MD Forte Cleanser II is better for me. Also, I use Dermalogica daily micro, it leaves skin very soft and smooth feeling. On top of these, I also use clay mask which seems to control the breakouts. |
