Hi!
I was wondering, is a concealer brush the same as a foundation brush, just smaller?
The CoverFx stuff I was talking about is an oil free cream. Concealer is usually cream so wouldn't I be able to use a concealer brush? I know it would take a longer time cause they are so small, but I don't know how to use brushes anyway.
They also said this product goes on best with a brush, but I think spending an extra $45 on something I don't know how to use is unnecessary.
Thanks! |

concealer brushes are so small I imagine it would take a LONG time to do your entire face. It may also become streaky. You got the product at shoppers drug mart right? Their house brand QUO makes some fantastic brushes, and are less expensive than mac and other places. Perhaps the quo is more in your price range?
With foundation brushes be sure to rinse them everytime after using them or you'll spead bacteria and get more zits. Once a week use a brush cleanser or a dab of a gentle facial cleanser to clean them. |

Thank you I actually haven't purchased it yet...I'm going to get color matched shortly.
It's not the price that concerns me, it's the fact that it might not even be necessary, and I just plain suck at using a brush anyway. It's friggin hard.
I have the Handi, by Jane Iredale. I can't use that with a cream product...at least I don't think I can. I didn't want to buy another product, and another brush they say I "need" to accompany it. That's why I was wondering if a concealer brush would do :P
If they say I do need one, I'd go out and buy one by MAC or something along those lines. I probably wouldn't buy their line.
thanks again! Maybe I'll go to the place that sells MAC and ask them to give me a few pointers....I just can't seem to get the hang of it. Then I'd feel fine about buying one. |

I had a demo for the ColourFx at my local SDM. The colour looked fine; but I decided to wait before buying another foundation.
I did buy the ColourFx foundation brush. I paid $38.00 back in June. I use it with my cheapie drugstore foundation and it really makes a difference. The SA said that if you take the brush and put the edge into creases, (eye & nose area) that you don't need a concealer brush. You can do that but I really do prefer using a concealer brush. I have (2) Quo concealer brushes and I do recommend the Quo for brushes. Unfortunately they do not make a foundation brush. The foundation brush is really easy to use...just big down strokes and turn the brush on its side to get into tighter areas.
I do recommend washing foundation brushes after each use.
BTW I did not realize that Colourfx also has mineral (compact) makeup. Maybe I will check this out. |

Dalguy,
I cannot imagine using my MAC concealer brush instead of the foundation brush. I think by the time I put the foundation on all evenly it would be time to take it off!
I don't think a foundation brush is a necessity, but I have found it to be very useful and only use brushes now whenever I use foundation. I think the difference comes in terms of blending and how natural it looks. Also, remember that the brush should be washed daily - si if you're not prepared to do this then it's not for you
Please don't use the Handi for liquid foundations though. First, it would be a waste as the bristles would absorb too much liquid anyway. Second, you might end up ruining the brush.
Btw, the Body Shop has a pretty decent foundation brush and it's quite cheap. Perhaps go have a play with that one in the store (if they have a non-festy tester) and see what you think? |

Thanks Mabsy!
If I like the CoverFx product, I've decided to go purchase the MAC 190.
I'm getting color matched soon, so hopefully I love it. I need something to distract me until I have laser resurfacing.
Thanks again! |
