Hi everybody! I'm new to EDS, and have really enjoyed sifting through old posts and trying to find a new skincare regimen.
I've been eyeing the clarisonics for a little while, and was wondering if anyone had any (cheaper) alternatives? I know that Neutrogena and Clean & Clear (and it seems like every skin care line) are coming out with their own motorized skin care systems, but I'm interested in something that will allow me to use my OWN cleanser, as my skin is weird and only tolerates select items.
I've also read up on OCM and CareKate's ACV toner. Can these be used in conjunction with a clarisonic-type cleanser?
Thanks for your help!

Pretika is a knock off at a fraction of the price. If you try a search I'm sure you will find some reviews.

Thanks GirlieGirl! I checked them out, and Pretika makes a sonic model. It's probably not exactly the same, but hey, $25 vs $150 on ebay? I'm sold!

Has anyone in the UK found a clarisonic alternative?

Thanks in advance.

I heard using an electric toothbrush can be used as an alternative

I dont think this would be a good idea.
1 - the bristles of a toothbrush would be too harsh on the skin.
2 - it would take forever to do your entire face.

Pretika has good reviews on QVC & Makeup Alley which I wish I had seen before I bought mine, but I am pleased w/ the results.

I bought a pretika on eBay for $25, but couldn't resist all the fantastic clarisonic reviews, so I ended up buying a Mia for $115 on eBay.
I really haven't noticed a difference in how my skin looks with either product, but do think it feels a little smoother right after use.
However, because of the price, I don't think the product is worth it, and if you're still going to purchase something, I'd go with the pretika.
Just my own 2 cents. Wish I had seen more negative clarisonic reviews before purchasing - I might not have been as disillusioned about the product and results!

I use and love the Clarisonic Mia but if price is an issue, I would say try a Pretika or even a humble washcloth or facial sponge. I used to use a gentle facial sponge before getting a Clarisonic and honestly, the results can be comparable. However, I bought the Clarisonic because I tend to overdo it with the facial sponge (resulting in mild red/dry patches on skin) and also because at $7 a pop for the sponge which has to be replaced monthly, I figured that a Clarisonic can be cheaper in the loooong run, if it holds up (fingers crossed for this one!)

I second the Iskin Icyj mentioned, I own one for about 5 years now they sell a micro dermabrasion cream with rounded beads to use with it, and it does the job of getting all the dead skin cells off really well. Makes your skin feel smooth as a baby's bum and glow! Way cheaper!!

I sometimes think its possible that we all get 'brainwashed' into thinking one thing is better than another, mainly because it is the market leader.
If we look at the facts - Clarasonic is a brush... pretty expensive one too.
IMO, buying any brush that is designed for skin should be suitable. I know some people use a plain, old dry towel instead of a brush.....and are happy with the results.

The only difference in the 2 ISkin models is the one has a stand and the less expensive one doesn't. Smile
I like the ISkin because it has a dense sponge head (replaceable in 2pack) it uses rounded beads so no skin tearing and the price is great! It really does exfoliate well and has 2 speeds for your skin type or preference!

IMHO
